unlike Kaisei issho is STILL trying to prove himself to his father which is crazy considering he wanted kaisei to break free from that in his own fucked up way. And yet notably it’s not Kaisei himself that does the chant for himself in regards to Issho, but Akane doing so For Him, communicating that u can’t handle all your problems alone and sometimes you have to let yourself be vulnerable with another person to truly grow, cause like truly unless akane challenged kaisei in the way she did I doubt he would have had this kind of growth. Similarly for Akane also. It’s a mutual relationship that parallels Issho and Shiguma.

tragically we all know Issho refuses to be vulnerable to the people in his life which set him on this self-destructive path. But with the Sword of Damocles hanging above us that is Shiguma’s Great Sin, it could be possible that Shiguma was also the one running away from HIS own weakness (too self conscious to master Shiguma’s Art), which maybe he tried to heal from while raising a “weak” person as his Very Frist Student, Shinta.

I’m curious how these themes on accepting your weaknesses is what gives you strength as a person will play out for someone like Zensho, who even based on Maikeru’s Shin’uchi exam seems to have a bit of an inferiority complex that he over-compensates by never admitting he has any flaws. The emphasis on him as a “younger brother” with very capable older brothers really fits into to that role.

What lovely banter between Akane and Kaisei to start the chapter with <3 The fact that both of them have nuanced perspectives about their own performances is wonderful. This wasn't the end all be all, their competition still continues. And Akane being upset that their duet, the first time performing together as rakugoka, got upstaged is endearing to me. It goes to show how important this was for the both of them 🥹 <3<3<3
