So with all the explosion and American flags everywhere itâs got me thinking about the live action transformers movies; specifically that one scene in the first movie where Shia doesnât want to sit in the drivers sear because B is driving himself. Now if there is a little detail of the steering wheel moving during that scene then it stands to reason that while in car shape, even if the cybertronian isnât actively controlling their speed and direction, a human driver can effectively operate them as if they were a standard motor vehicle. In which case, that could you potentially do with your very own car friend? In newer models there are ways of connecting to the internet (something we know they can do already, itâs how they learned our languages) but could they potentially interface with your phone via Bluetooth?
Imagine a long road trip with your autobot/decepticon defector-friend? Could you talk with each other and keep company? Could your best buddy just essentially nap or coast along while you drive? Space out or otherwise get lost in your agreed upon favorite Spotify playlist?
Imagine on hot days how your buddy might feel being all made of metal and more susceptible to extreme heat conditions on their engine and tires, so to beat the heat the two of you have a âbathâ day where you bust out all the stops cleaning off the road grime and laughing at frankly horrible car puns.
Imagine never having to worry about your safety when they are around; laying low to keep the others from finding them(something achieved with your assistance while simultaneously getting an odd little family dynamic going) and they keep you protected. Loose your apparent/shelter? Buddy has got you fam. All you have to do is hold down a job of some kind to feed the two of you (they eat metal? Or am I forgetting something?) gas and insurance,
Heck if the interface with the phone thing is real, you can buy them a phone if their own, hook it up to one of those air vents with a wireless charge capability, the they can hold down a job of their own as an Uber/Lyft service, or equivalent. We know they can generate a holographic human in the drivers seat.
Then, the two of you can scrape together enough money to buy a house or otherwise get a permanent home somewhere and you can spoil them by decking out their room (garage and car port) with things you know they like. If itâs a two car garage they might even have enough space to comfortably shift out of their car from and just chill with you. If you get a big enough back yard you can even put in a pool deep enough they can sit in it like a tub, bonus points if you get a hot tub too so you both can hang out. Of course, since your pal is laying low youâll tot plant trees and set of energon single disrupters to keep them from being noticed at home. It might make them feel crummy once in a while so you two can do thing to cheer up, like gaming together or giving your pal a cleaning and waxing( like a manipeti for a car). If you are one of the human verities that experience mensuration, youcan bond over feeling like shit once a month, the empathy is real. They might even start keeping track of that since they know humans are so much squishier. You can keep track of their health too so itâs a mutual care.
Need to reach something on the roof? Ask for help and get a giant friend to lift you up and catch you if you slip.
Canât sleep so you wander out to the garage and climb into the back seat; the two of you nod off together talking about the vastness of space and how quiet earth seems by comparison, how itâs nice and warm and close. Your pal knowing just the right music/ambiance track to relax you and help you fall asleep. You sing for them sometimes, dancing on the passenger seat. They havenât laughed so much in a long time but you make the whole world seem brighter. Being able to say the stupid millennial/gen z stuff that is âthis is my zippy sonâ and have it be mostly unironic.
In cases where you get distracted while driving, they can help; another way of keeping you both safe, as they have awareness of what goes on around them even when a car; things like parallel parking, tight traffic, suddenly pedestrians, etc are a lot less panic enducing. Just relaxing in the drivers seat, lightly holding the steering wheel even when you arenât in control because it feels like youâre holding their hand in a way. Maybe you even teach them how to âdrive stickâ even though they donât need to learn. Them upgrading (something I assume is healthy and helps them run more effectively, better aro dynamics and such) semi frequently because new cars are really expensive and they want to âdress upâ for you; could be not wanting to embarrass you to wanting to impress youâŚ
Point is, Iâve been thinking too much about a wholesome bromance with a car would be hella rad.
