I do realize that it's legally considered a war crime to explain Warcraft lore to people, but I was trying to provide context for Alexstrasza's trauma in the most recent chapter of Reunification to a groupchat. And it really is, like.
Okay so when Alexstrasza was a teenager she defeated Dragon Vecna and became God-Empress of Dragonkind, but then Azeroth was remarkably stable for staggering lengths of time! Like.
Her life was basically completely normal for ten thousand years, and then a crazy lady exploded Pangaea because she wanted to femdom a demon the size of the moon, and then everything was totally normal again for ten thousand more years.
And then, over what is presumably the draconic-lifespan equivalent of like six months, two of her consorts died she was captured by orcs working for her magically corrupted former best friend they hit her with a pain ray from a magic orb that they used to enslave her entire species and force her prime consort to rape her on pain of systematically torturing their children to death in front of her and then she was rescued but aforementioned prime consort sacrificed himself to cover her retreat and then her other best friend went crazy and died and her surviving sons did and her other other best friend essentially has both a psychotic disorder AND legitimate prophetic visions and confessed that he was inevitably going to become corrupted and eat the timestream despite being just generally a great guy so that's everyone's problem now then her sister got murdered and then she finally felt safe enough to try having kids again with her last remaining consort and then he discovered a plot to corrupt them all but got hit with the corruption magic and used his last seconds of sanity to self-immolate.
and then her sister died again.
