Today, in honor of Valentine's Day, I took a look at Nerissa Ravencroft's "Sweetest Scarlet." I was shopping the other day and found a dvd for "Lonely Castle in the Mirror." I had never heard of it before but the cover looked interesting so I decided to get it and give it a try. Later that night, I gave it a watch and it blew me away. I'm not really interested in comparing it to other masterpieces, etc. because for me it's less that it's a perfect movie and more that it was the perfect movie for me. It's super cozy and heartwarming and when it was done I eagerly searched it up to find some discussion on it and was surprised to find that 1) it didn't have great reviews online and 2) there really wasn't much discussion on it. So, basically, I made this video in hopes of finding others who watched and enjoyed this movie because it is now so near and dear to my heart and I'd love to discuss it with others.
Today I took a look at the poetics of Gigi Murin's "I'll still be here." Since this is a deeply personal song and covers a sensitive topic, I wanted to be careful and respectful with my analysis. I think there's a lot of beauty and poetry in the lyrics so I thought that you fellow grems might enjoy a breakdown of some of the poetic techniques and devices being used. It's a bit of a niche form of fan art, but I hope you enjoy!

Okay so, this is sort of a complicated question to explain but bear with me.
In the film, Himi and Kiriko are both young and from a different time than Mahito. That’s why they go through a different door at the end of the movie.
It’s explained that Himi went missing when she was younger. Apparently she returned one day looking unchanged but with no memories of where she had been. There’s no mention of Kiriko returning with her.
So:
First Question: was Kiriko originally from the other world? Like, at the end of the movie when she leaves with Himi, was that her first time entering the “real world?” It would make sense that she entered the world and aged alongside Himi cause then she would be the old lady Mahito meets in the real world.
Okay, next part:
When the Heron goes into the real world, he still maintains his magical powers and is able to speak and transform.
Therefore, could one argue that Himi maintains her magical powers related to fire?
I ask this because:
Is it possible that adult Himi didn’t die in the fire? My theory is that she instead was teleported to the magical world and upon entering the magical world she de-aged. This syncs up with Kiriko de-aging after entering the magical world with Mahito.
Young Himi enters tower, develops powers, meets Mahito, leaves tower, grows old and has Mahito, “dies” in fire, returns to magical world as child, meets Mahito, leaves, grows old and has Mahito, “dies” Mahito looks for her, leaves the tower, etc.
Also she seems to recognize Mahito and her sister, which implies she remembers her adult memories, maybe.
Final question:
Does that mean that Himi and Kiriko are stuck in a time loop? Or at least is Kiriko in one? Shes old, enters magical world, leaves with Himi, grows old, re-enters it with Mahito, de-ages then returns with Himi. Because the weird thing is old Kiriko is with Mahito at the end, but she leaves with Himi.
