HOOKING YOUR IPAD TO THE DATA PROJECTOR
Our projector cables have blue ends and are not connected to other computers. You will find them next to/underneath the whiteboard in the classroom.Ā WiFiĀ is available in all classrooms so you can use the internet. You will need to log in to the network.Ā
When hooking up to the projector, make sure you turn your iPad on before you turn on the screen. The on/off buttons for the data projector are near the projector cables on the wall.
For serious typing sessions (or if you just can't get the hang of the iPad's on-screen keyboard), an external keyboard is a great iPad accessory. Here's our guide to the different types, along with recommendations for each.

USING IPHONE APPS ON THE IPAD
iPad runs nearly all applications, or apps, designed for iPhone and iPod touch available in the App Store.Ā
Here are some tips for running iPhone apps on your iPad:Ā
apps can run in their original smaller size or you can enlarge them to fill the screen by tapping on the 2X button at the bottom of the screen. Tap again to reduce to 1X.
some iPhone apps will only work in portrait or landscape orientation. They will change orientation even if the screen rotation lock is on.
Text and graphics may not appear as sharp when using 2x mode. If you prefer sharper text and graphics, use 1x instead.
Some features may not be available on iPad (for example, apps that let you make phone calls or use the iPhone camera to take pictures).

NAVIGATING FROM SCREEN TO SCREEN
There are three ways to easily navigate through your home screens when you have multiple pages of apps and folders.
Switch between pages is by swiping across the screen from right to left to move forwardĀ and left to right to move to previous screens.
Tap the bottom right or left corner of the screen between the bottom row of apps and the docked apps. Tapping the bottom right takes you to the next screen, bottom left takes you to the previous screen.
Near the bottom of your home screen is a series of dots. Each dot represents a home screen. Tapping on the right-hand dots will take you to the next home screen. Tapping on the left will move you back a screen.
TIP: The dots represent the number of screens you have, the bold white dot is the screen you are on.
How to Set the Password Lock on Your iPad
LOCK THE SCREEN ORIENTATION
If you don't want the iPad screen to rotate every time you tilt it, you can lock the orientation of it. Here's how --
Double click the Home Button.Ā
At the bottom of the screen the Fast App Switcher will appear. Apps appearing here are open and running in the background.Ā
Drag your finger across the Fast App Switcher from left to right to find the controls such as Screen Brightness, Volume, Play and access to your Music collection. At the extreme left of the Fast App Switcher is the Lock/Rotate button.Ā
Press to lock the orientation, press again to unlock it.Ā
Click the Home Button to exit the Fast App Switcher.
DELETING AN APPLICATION
Deleting an application is easy!
Simply press on the app for several seconds. An 'x' should appear in the corner of all the apps and they will start to jiggle. PressĀ on the 'x' of the app you wish to delete. A box will appear warning you that all data associated with the app will also be deleted.
.
Press 'Delete'.Ā
When you are finished, press the Home button to exit jiggly mode.Ā
Apps deleted from your iPad are not deleted from your purchases in the iTunes store so can be re-loaded onto the iPad without purchasing them a second time.Ā
SLEEP BUTTON AND HOME BUTTON
There are two main buttons on the iPad; theĀ Sleep ButtonĀ (top right-hand corner) and theĀ Home Button (on the front)Ā .
What is the difference you ask?Ā
Press the Sleep Button to put your iPad into 'stand-by' mode. Podcasts and music will continue to play.Ā
To turn your iPad off completely you need to hold the Sleep button down until a Slide to Power Off slider appears (about 4-5 seconds). Once you drag the button across your machine will completely turn off.Ā
Turning off your machine is a good idea if you are not going to be using it for a while.
If your iPad is in 'Stand-by' (sleep) mode you can press the Home Button to wake it up. You can also use the Home ButtonĀ to cycle between the Home Page and the Search screen (Spotlight Search).Ā
