Thinking of #singapore today. Most of my life has been spent in the US but I will always have a connection to this mighty and complex island metropolis. I'm grateful to my grandmothers and mother for telling me stories of a pre- #leekuanyew Singapore. The stories helped me understand the scale of transformation thats taken place over the last 50 years. I appreciate that it took quite a political mind and leadership to create a "first world oasis in a third world region." Thank you prime minister. #RIPLKY
