Happy Birthday to ME! I spent 39 1/2 years holding on to failures, let downs, and pain. Holding MYSELF captive IN MY MIND for things I had no control over and definitely can't control TODAY. At 39 1/2 years I began a SERIOUS journey unpacking my shit, letting go of stuff, and truly working on ME. I was holding shame... About be molested... Being hazed in college trying to pledge a fraternity... Not finishing shool... Being gay... Being effeminate... (The ones that quickly came to mind) TODAY I celebrate ALL of ME! November Month of Gratitude Day 28th Today I am grateful for my resilience. It was one year ago today I left my job of 3 years that I fought so hard to prove myself and finally get the title of director. I never really shared with folks everyday I went into work, I was almost in tears and would have at least one panic attack a week trying to make it through the day. Working for people who do not TRULY value diversity, creativity, and leaders of colors is a microcosm of what is playing out in politics today. Never let anyone write your script or typecast your role in this thing called life. My resilience throughout this year even amazes me. You tell yourself and others it's in you, but you really don't know what you're made of and how you will react until you're in it. I came out of this transition a year later a certified yoga teacher, 20lbs. lighter, a growing brand of @victorefitness graduate of my leadership program @momentumeducation Director of Operations for @formxfunction and 40 years old.
