doubt’s an elastic that snaps where you grasp it
with idle hands clasped on your wrist just as sharp as
a kiss on the scar where you carved out her name
or a line that is straight and confined to your fate
you’re resigned to be damned by your hand in her hand
she will hold you as soft as feather on water
you float on her fingers, she pulls you apart

hate is a bile that starts in your guts and erupts
from your throat like a geyser, you try to provoke
and emote and spit angry black stains on their lies
as they hock more to block out their shame
and their cries, how they try, but it wont be enough
not as long as you live, you’ll all drown in the stuff
it wont help to be patient, the water will rise after all

light, you can see now the dark is receding
parts leaving, not bleeding, just holes for the healing to start
there’s your heart and it sees with it’s wings out
it reads what you think in the bones of the body
you shrink and you smile and you try to make small
but the devil sees all and she thinks you’re a beauty
you’re bursting and beating and burning up
hotter each second, the reckoning comes for you daughter of god
