the nature of OnK's story is that it doesn't really get a chance to slow down and really zero in on some of the smaller details of how aqua and ruby experience reincarnation, preferring instead to focus on the more broad strokes & dramatic identity stuff, but i'm always so charmed when it does pop up. aqua noting during the lovenow arc that he can eat a lot of greasy/rich foods without upsetting his stomach in a younger body, ruby having the time of her life pushing her body to the limit during the piyeon dance because even this is so far beyond even her most wild and unrealistic dreams for her mobility when she was sarina, etc etc

it makes me really wish we'd gotten more moments like that, especially for ruby. even tho her whole arc basically gets subsumed by the sarina angst past a certain point it's mostly all the kyaa omg sensei >_< stuff. i'd love to see stuff like. idk. how does ruby feel about getting to eat more varied food? is adjusting to living in a city after spending so long at the rural hospital difficult for her? how does she adjust to the lack of routine? is it scary for her the first time she gets sick in her new body? does it feel like winning the fucking lottery the day she finally turns thirteen years old?

idk. i'd love to see more exploration of that stuff. lace's fic about ruby's relationship w/her hair is one of my #1 faves in this regard but if anyone else knows any more that are ruby centric pls do let me know
