the older i get, the more i learned to just see men as people. their attention, their affection, it’s not transformative. i am not more valuable as a woman because some man decides to acknowledge my worth. i am a person, with goals and dreams and desires and passions. i’m the same with or without a man. the only difference is that in a healthy relationship, i’m able to pursue those goals and dreams and desires and passions with someone who loves and supports me.
