Silenus' family came from a lineage of either grain farmers or wine producers, but he has wanted more than just the simple things, being the ambitious person he is. Back in Galar, he was a very articulate and focused person, which allowed him to become a research instructor. He later married and started a family, giving him a sense of purpose and individuality. But one night, his family was killed in what seemed to be a crime connected to people from other regions moving to Galar. Silenus claims that he was able to see the mystery killer's physical traits, like deep brown eyes and hair, a rather fair complexion, even a black shirt under a red-and-black checkered flannel, and black baggy jeans.
He wanted to get away and start over, which is what he researched. Eventually, he found connections in another region, Alola, and he met different people there. But the memory of his past still lingers; he simply could not get over it, and he refuses to forget. In the new region, he meets people like Kukui, Burnette, and Wicke, forming the closest (yet platonic) bond with Wicke, with Wicke giving him opportunities for his career, leading him to the Aether Foundation. The two got along well until an intern by the name of Luna showed up, evoking violent memories, but he tries to stay silent about it, even though Wicke slowly notices her colleague withdrawing from others, including herself, and even fixating on the intern, wanting to know everything about her before he can plan and act on his disdain towards her.
====== RELATIONSHIPS ======
- His wife and child (UNKNOWN): Both died in a mysterious crime that took place years ago, when Silenus was still in Galar. The suspect was never caught or identified.
- Jewel: His loyal companion Espeon. He has been fascinated by animals with Psychic magic, and Jewel was his first companion.
- Luna: They are practically enemies. He strongly HATES Luna because of her physical features (skin tone, eye color, hair color and texture, and clothing color palette - black and red), which he associates with the killer who took his family. Because of how much she reminds him of his loss and torment daily, he chooses to take his grief and anger out on her.
- Lillie, Hau, and Gladion: Especially with Gladion, Luna's closest friend, Silenus sees them as people who get in the way. He, Silenus, secretly envies Luna and Gladion's close bond because it reminds him of the ones he lost to death.
- Wicke: His colleague. Since the day Luna arrived at Aether as an intern, Silenus slowly stopped talking to Wicke, and he started growing suspicious of Wicke when she started showing signs of concern and protection towards Luna.
- Lusamine: His superior. They are not very close, and he often distrusts her.
====== TRIVIA ======
- Before, he used to wear a tucked-in rosemary-green cravat, and Wicke even complimented him on it, saying it suited his personality well. But until Luna showed up, he wore a deep red one that hung loose, and Wicke thought it was merely a style change at first. The change also caught Lillie's attention, but not in a pleasant way. She thought it looked like a fatal wound.
- Despite his companion animal, Jewel, evolving from an Eevee during the day, it evolved in rainy weather.
- His last name refers to the Latin translation of a certain type of plant, which explains his lineage. It could also be interpreted as wordplay for the English word 'vicious'.
