"Holy hell, I really needed this." Wren said as she sat down on the warm sand and looked at her friend. "Ever since we've been back, all I've been doing is working." @rededgerpstarterblog

"You're very welcome, Wren." She said with a smile as she sat down next to her. "I'm glad I could finally get you out of your comfort zone."

"Honestly, you and I are in the same boat, Violet." Kat said with a laugh. "What's going on in your personal life though?

"Not much, I am so damn boring." Violet laughed and looked at her friend. "I need much more of a life."

Emersyn nodded, understanding written all over her face. “Yeah, it feels different once the summer crowd fades out. Quieter. More honest, somehow.” She glanced down the shoreline, then back at Violet. “I kind of like it better this way. It feels like the beach belongs to the people who actually need it.”

"Yeah I know, that's how I feel too." Violet looked at Emersyn and smiled at her. "The tourist season just makes it feel like our corner of the world is too small, but once it ends, everything feels right."

Emersyn smiled and shifted a little to give Violet space. “Exactly. The beach is perfect for letting your brain go quiet without feeling lonely.” She glanced out at the water, then back at Violet. “Do you come out here often when you need that kind of reset, or was today just one of those days?”

"Really when I need a reset more than anything." Violet looked at Emersyn and smiled at her. "I also haven't had the chance to come to the beach since summer ended so it's just nice to be back here."

Emersyn claimed a seat near the edge of the pier, lunch balanced on her knee, sunglasses pushed up into her hair. The ocean breeze did most of the work of slowing her down, salt and noise blurring the line between break and escape.

"No you're good, Emersyn, I am here to people watch and to just be out of my mind for a bit and what better place to do it than here at the beach?" She asked as she sat down next to her.

"Thank you so much for coming over to hangout!" Kat said with a smile. "I seriously needed this, but I am so burnt out from work that I did no feel like leaving my place today." @rededgerpstarterblog
