“Umara” [Commission] 02/25/2021 White Nights Watercolors and India Ink on Parchment 9”x 12 “
Text: Είναι τόσο τραχιά όσο η άμμος των μεγάλων άγονων ερήμων, αλλά φαίνεται μια χαμένη και αγνή ψυχή που παγιδεύεται στα χείμαρρα οργής. Translation: She is as rough as the sands of the great barren deserts, yet she seems a lost and pure soul caught up in the torrents of rage.
1) Black Stone 2) Fjolk (Portal) 3) Línghún nǚwáng 4) Línghún nǚwáng Revised Artist’s Note: This is the fifth painting that’s part of the set which my 5e DM commissioned me to create. The NPC’s name is Umara, one of the oldest generals that’s part of Black Stone Legion. Naveen Najafi of Calimport (my aasimar wizard PC) spoke to her with sincerity and then genuinely asked why she is serving Black Stone. After a few more words were exchanged, Naveen was able to inspire her to think for herself to the point she directed the party where to acquire a dagger that’ll drain Black Stone’s immortality. She then offers her service to help the party and the crusaders against Black Stone’s madness. All she needed was a friend to ask what she wants in life.
Full disclosure, the armor she’s wearing is based on the Easterling Armor from Lord of The Rings trilogy. Thanks to the White Nights watercolors, this painting came out beautiful. It’s worth the price. Below is an excerpt from Count Simon De Montfort.
“The first and most potent of his generals is Umara; she hails from Sheirtala, located deep in the Shaar Desolation. The city was practically a ruin when she was born; its inhabitants scratched out an existence from the unforgiving deserts surrounding it. Umara’s father would be the one to set the city on a path with its destiny as a stronghold full of brutal desert raiders. Her father was a cruel and savage man who cared very little for his people, even his own family. When Umara was a young woman at the behest of her father, the city’s shaman imbued her with a great and terrible power they referred to as the sands of Almawt. The sands are coarse and sharp as glass; the grains are as black as the void of death itself. She suffered greatly during the ritual; she suffered so intensely that she lost her sanity. Upon the ritual's completion, she lashed out at her father and the shaman shredding them with the sands.
After murdering her father, Umara used her power to take control of the city's raider hordes, consisting of thousands of mounted warriors. She led these warriors on one savage conquest after another. Burning and slaughtering every town and city within striking distance of the Shaar Desolation. As they conquered, she began to truly develop her powers discovering many terrifying abilities, such as her ability to summon a great black fire drake made of pure sand. Or her ability to summon a sand storm so powerful that it can disintegrate entire armies and cities that are caught in it. It's not known how she came to be in Blackstone’s service, but it is believed they encountered each other during the Blackstones Calimport campaign in the mid 300’s—thus making her his first and most terrible general.”

“Lav’Rinth Whittlesilk” [Commission] 02/01/2021 White Night Watercolors and India Ink on Hot Press Watercolor Pad 11.69” x 16.53” Framed in a 16” x 20” Artist’s Note: My client has commissioned me to paint his friend’s PC from a Princes of the Apocalypse campaign to give him as a present. The subject’s name is Lav’Rinth Whittlesilk, a quiet-spoken Changeling Sorceress who usually takes the form of an Elf girl. The fortress in the background used to belong to the Cult of the Black Earth until their party repurposed it for Lav’s business, the Eclipse Emperium. I genuinely had fun designing the character and the background. It’s safe to say I might use her as one of the many merchants in my Pathfinder campaign that’s set in Qadira.

Artist's Note: Meant to upload this sooner, but I was letting the Archival Varnish to set first. This is a drow npc in my Pathfinder campaign that sets in Qadira.

“Línghún nǚwáng #2” 01/04/2021 India Ink and Acrylic on Parchment 9 x 12 inches Artist’s Note: A second rendition of a necromancer antagonist in my 5e DM’s campaign. I am satisfied with how aged up it looks. Below is an excerpts from Simon De Montfort’s report on Línghún nǚwáng. This is part of a commission set. See also 1) Black Stone 2) Fjolk (Portal) 3) Línghún nǚwáng 5) Umara Flavor Text: Línghún nǚwáng, the one who keeps the army. She was the wife and empress to a great emperor of a far distant land. She was remembered as being cruel and terrible to the point where she was banished by her own husband. She had a talent for magic especially that of necromancy. She is able to call upon and control spirits with relative ease. She keeps the army from ever truly losing its soldiers, after each battle, she brings back the fallen of the legion so that they may still fight and serve Black Stone.
“Gwendolyn (Vimri) Portrait” 01/02/2021 Watercolors on Cold Press Watercolor Paper 9 x 12 inches Artist’s Note: This is a fetchling summoner/oracle NPC from my campaign. I wanted to show my player how this NPC looks without wearing a traditional Armenian headdress.
“Frog from Chrono Trigger” 12/27/2020 Watercolors on Cold Press Watercolor Paper 9 x 12 inches Artist’s Note: A Christmas Present I yet to give to my friend. Shh, he still doesn’t know about it. See Less
“Línghún nǚwáng” [Commission] 11/27/2020 Indian Ink and Acrylic on Parchment 9 x 12 inches Artist’s Note: This was the first rendition of the necromancer general who our party has yet to encounter. I was later commissioned to put the subject on a different pose. Below is an excerpts from Simon De Montfort’s report on Línghún nǚwáng. This is part of a commission set. See also 1) Black Stone 2) Fjolk (Portal) 4) Línghún nǚwáng Revised 5) Umara

“Naveen Najafi of Calimport with Mau #2” 11/24/2020 Watercolors and Sumi Ink on Parchment 9 x 12 inches Artist’s Note: Another attempt on painting a portrait of my aasimar wizard with his familiar.
“Portal (Fjolk)” 11/24/2020 Indian Ink and Acrylic on Parchment 9 x 12 in. Artist’s Note: Portal is the second commission I contributed for my 5e DM’s campaign. All I know is that this entity can cast Dimensional Door and Gate without using any component. My non adventuring wizard is terrified by this baddie more so than Black Stone himself (see previous post). Below contains additional excerpts from Simon De Montfort’s report on the subject. This is part of a commission set. See also 1) Black Stone 3) Línghún nǚwáng 4) Línghún nǚwáng Revised 5) Umara
Flavor Text: The Black stone legion and its commanders: The logistics and composition of the Black Stone legion, written by Count Simon de Montfort in 1623 C.H. The legions of Black Stone are one of the greatest calamities to befall this world. The legion is composed of tens of thousands of humans, orcs, dwarves, trolls, giants, leonIns, centaurs, and minotaurs. All races that are known for their dislike of gods and higher powers. These races culminate into a fighting force of just over one hundred and fifteen thousand soldiers. Every legionary is possessed by the corruption of their general. Their skin and fur a dark grey, their eyes glow the dull orange of dying embers. They are incredibly hardy soldiers fierce in combat. They fight without fear, compassion, or regard for their own lives. Their physical and mental resistance are vast, but they do appear to have weaknesses to purification magic or a swift decapitation if you can manage the strike. The army is commanded by Black stone and his three Generals. Fjolk, the one who moves the army. Fjolk is a being of unknown origin who can create portals at will, in any shape or size. He is able to open them to any destination he desires.
“Black Stone” [Commission] 11/17/2020 Pencil on Parchment 9 x 12 in. Artist’s Note: One of the five commissions (as of this post) I recently received from my 5e DM. This is Black Stone, the BBEG, who our party has encountered in November 2020. My merchant wizard wants no part of trying to stop this evil threat, because he is not an adventurer or a crusader. He did, however, found lore about Black Stone. This is part of a commission set. See also 2) Fjolk (Portal) 3) Línghún nǚwáng 4) Línghún nǚwáng Revised 5) Umara
Flavor Text: Black Stone: The surviving chronicles of Xanthias, written in 483 C.H. shortly after the banishment of Black Stone. Annotated and translated by Count Simon De Montfort in 1526 C.H. He Started life as a simple farmer in an unknown land, its name long since forgotten. His actual name was lost to the ravages of time. The only facts that are known about his life are as follows; He was a man, married to an elvish woman named Fayeth, and that Fayeth was murdered by a Drow conqueror named Feanor. After her murder, Black stone went into great despair pledging to all the gods and demons of the world that he will get his revenge on them for the pain they had caused him. I know not when or by whom his prayers were answered by. I only know that they were answered by a demon barring a stone dagger. The dagger containing a power called "Το μαύρο λεμόνι του ανθρώπου" or the black venom of man, later to be nicknamed the black stone for the effects it has on the user's physical appearance turning their skin to a dark grey. The power is what grants black stone his immortality and his total immunity to any physical harm. But when his rage and hatred mixed with the venom, it corrupted him completely, separating him from all sense and reason. The two powers feeding off each other. The more rage he feels, the stronger the venom becomes, the stronger the venom becomes the more he slips into blood-soaked madness. The world at large did not know of his existence until the name “Black stone” was recorded roughly fifteen years after the initial cataclysm that set him down this path. He was mentioned in a report from a small city called Klepos requesting help from their king, saying they are being besieged by a great army of darkness. This army would go on to later be referred to as "Black stones Legions." The greatest and most terrible force of destruction our world has known. They would spend the better part of two hundred years enacting Black stones revenge. But not just on this land, but many other continents and realms of existence as well. His army even laid siege to and sacked the great demon strongholds of the nine hells, and saw the celestial heavens burn in the fires of their hatred. Next to nothing is known about his generals except a brief poem that was written by one of the defenders of the now ruined city of Dis. "Η μαύρη πέτρα οδηγεί τον στρατό, η Fjolk μετακινεί τον στρατό, ο Umar οργανώνει τον στρατό και ο Línghún nǚwáng nghún nǚwáng κρατά τον στρατό ζωντανό." Or "Black stone leads the army, Fjolk moves the army, Umara organizes the army, and Línghún nǚwáng keeps the army." The army's size and strength are entirely unknown but it is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about his disappearance almost ten years ago; I only know two things. The secretive vampire lords of the black coast are believed to be the ones who banished him, and that the dagger, which gave him his terrible power, is believed to be one of the only things in creation which can pierce his skin. Notes The account above is the only commonly known first hand account of Black Stone and his war against the world. Xanthias was a scribe for the lord of a great city called Pellos, one of the few cities to not be destroyed by Black Stone, we don't know why the city was left untouched or how Xanthias was able to observe Black stone and his Generals so closely. But if it was not for his efforts next to nothing would be known about Black stone and his dark forces. From what my research has shown Xanthias traveled in and around the world and realms after the banishment trying to piece together what had happened from those who survived. Compiling their accounts with his own first hand experience. Into what we have now, unfortunately a large portion of his works were lost to the ravages of time so we have only been able to recover pieces of what he wrote. On a more pleasant note, at least for scholars such as myself. I was able to recover the four sketches that Xanthias did of Black stone and his generals. Again it is completely beyond me how he was able to get close enough to do such detailed sketches of these individuals. But without his work and effort we would have no concept of what they looked like. The sketches are badly damaged from roughly a thousand years of neglect and mistreatment in the archives of Calimport. Especially the sketch of Fjolk which is missing half of the poem that Xanthias had written about him. The sketches as they appear are of Black Stone, The large brutal looking monster with red eyes and his famed horned helmet. Next is Línghún nǚwáng, the queen of souls. She is easily denoted by her necromancers flames and black cloak. The third one is Fjölkyngi or as it was later shortened to Fjolk, truly a fearsome looking creature with no actual face or distinguishing features, aside from his tattoos which are said to have moved about his body as he used his powers. The forth sketch is of Umara, she is easily identifiable by her distinct Orimonen helmet and armor, and the wretched onyx sands of Almawt that she wielded so ruthlessly.
