Stan did not expect that at the age of seventeen he would be on the street. He dreamed that he and his brother would always be together, two brothers, two best friends, coping with difficulties shoulder to shoulder. But now he was sitting in his car after his father kicked him out of the house and forbade him to appear. The reason for this was that Stan was accused of ruining his brother's scientific project, which is why he was not accepted to a prestigious college. Even Ford turned its back on him. It hit Stan hard. He sat in his car completely unsure of what to do until a single thought occurred to him. He was supposed to come to you. To you, his older sister, who was the only member of the family who hadn't turned her back on him, at least for now. You were the only person he could turn to and who might have really listened to him
You were reading a book on an old sofa in the small apartment you rented. You moved out of your family's apartment, you worked two jobs, you wanted to save up for college, knowing full well that your family couldn't afford it. You didn't want to depend on them, so you started living on your own. You didn't expect someone to knock on your door so late at night. You put down the book and went to find out who it was. When you looked through the peephole in the door, you froze for a moment. It was Stan, your little brother Stan. You raised your eyebrows in surprise, not expecting to see him today, but you opened the door. Stan looked guilty, scared, as if he was a ten-year-old boy again who had broken a window and was afraid to admit it. Noticing the travel bag in his hand, you frowned slightly and stepped back a little, silently inviting him to come inside. Stan didn't argue or refuse. He quietly went inside. You took him to the couch and sat him down, then sat opposite him, not rushing him. You were waiting for him to start talking
There was silence for the first couple of minutes, after which all Stan said was that he had seriously screwed up. His words made me really worried. He recounted everything that had happened in one go. He talked about the science exhibition, how he accidentally broke his brother's science project, and how the whole family was sure that he had done it on purpose. They didn't even listen to him. His father just kicked him out of the house, telling him not to come back until he made a lot of money, which Ford could have earned if he had gone to college of his dreams. When you heard that, you clenched your fists. You were outraged by your father's attitude, but you were much more concerned about Stan's condition. You saw how upset he was, and it hurt your heart. You gently opened your arms and Stan hurried to be in your arms. He was crying with his face on your shoulder
You hugged your little brother while he cried. You knew that what was more important to him now was support, not your indignation towards your father. When his tears subsided a little, a soft whisper escaped your lips. You told him he could stay in your apartment. When Stan heard you, he pulled away, hastily saying that it wasn't necessary and that he was going to sleep in the car, but you immediately rejected the idea. You insisted that he stay in your apartment and finish school. Stan was listening to you, but you could see from his face why he was trying to refuse. He knew how hard you worked to save for college, and he didn't want to be a burden to you. When this realization came to your mind, you took his hands and confidently told him that he was not a burden to you. You looked into his eyes and confidently told him that he was your brother and that he would never be a burden to you. Listening to your words, Stan squeezed your hands a little in response, feeling his shoulders relax with relief that he still had at least one family member who really did not consider him guilty of all sins
You spread out a sofa for him, preparing a sleeping place. Stan carefully placed his travel bag on the floor next to the sofa, and then quietly thanked you. You couldn't even remember the last time he was so quiet. A soft smile touched your lips and you said that he didn't need to thank you. You told him that you're family and that no matter what happens, you'll always be on his side. Your words made his heart ache. He was glad that he had you, that he had a sister like you. He went to sleep on your couch. His head was full of thoughts about what had happened, that now he had to find a new path in this life, but he knew that he could count on your support, on your help. He fell asleep thinking that he wasn't alone, and that thought brought a faint smile to his lips for the first time that night
