“ i don’t get what’s everyone’s obsession with being pushy is. can’t they just chill for one fucking second. first it was ‘ when are you getting married ? ’ and now it’s about a baby and i know after we have the first one, they’ll be asking about a second one. there’s no rest. no peace. ” he groaned loudly. “ we’re waiting, we have no hurry. maybe once we get bored of having a fun life. ” he grinned at sten. “ nah, she just wants you to stop being a little shit. you don’t need a wife for that. ” he teasingly punched sten in the arm.

“ trust me, when i start asking people, i’ve exhausted all other options. ” approaching people, asking for their help was just about the worst thing viggo could have thought of. “ i don’t understand how it even escaped the backyard. or why... this is the first time it has happened. ”

“ i mean... he’s a dog, ” viggo replied with a bit of laughter in his voice. “ really ? any chance you’d tell me where ? ”

“ got back ? from where ? ” pine could wait.

“ a little dog ? pine’s not exactly small... medium sized, i don’t know if you’ve seen him after he grew out of his puppy phase. ” when was the last time ireti had visited copenhagen and viggo had been there ? had he even had pine back then ? viggo scratched the back of his neck. “ you think i should knock on their door ? sounds like a nightmare... ”

“ how did silje’s birthday go ? i heard people complain about the noise on the street. did you get angry neighbours knocking on your door ? ” [ ;; @princesten​ ]

“ has anyone seen a dog ? it escaped yesterday. about this size, dark grey hair, cute and adorable. doesn’t bark too much. ” [ ;; @hshqstarters​ ]

“ i... you know what ? i actually thought it would have happened earlier. i’ve had that damn ring in my pocket for so long, i sort of forgot that it wasn’t official until now. stupid. ”

“ i already made a reference during the vows, isn’t that enough ? ” he pulled his chin back, away from his mother’s affectionate touch, and shot her a grin. “ it’s a young people thing, you don’t get it. ”

" no, not that. " this game might backfire on him. but finally ! finally the timing felt right: there wasn't a big celebration stealing the moment from them nor was there a great tragedy overshadowing the joy. first it had been klara’s birth ( he had decided to wait a month ) but then there had been the italian’s shooting ( that had set off the mood for months ). then a swiss-scottish wedding... an earthquake... a french-hungarian engagement... a brutal bombing of brussels...  things had kept popping up and every plan he had made had had a terrible timing. it wasn’t his fault, was it ? “ it’s something... ” his grin spread when he saw the change in expression. his other hand reached to grab the cup from her. he had planned some of this: he knew that his fingers were long enough to take the ring from the bottom of the cup however he had not planned how he would slip the wet, sticky, and beery ring into her finger smoothly. he set the cup down on the kitchen counter before catching her lips into a deep kiss. one hand cupped the back of her head while the other answered her squeeze with one of his own. he could feel his heart leaping in his chest like it was his last day. it was his stupid smile that brought the kiss to a natural end and he lowered himself onto on knee. he fished the ring out of the cup wiped his hand and the ring on his trousers before taking her left hand into his. “ armani catherina van oranje-nassau will you marry me ? ”
