“Perhaps. You never know. Et je ne suis pas le chou.” Dominique pulled an immature face that did not fit her appearance, chuckling softly.

Katherine glanced up from their desk, canting their head as they heard someone approach. “I do hope that this intrusion is not about something such as another broken wand.”
“Nothing like that. I said I’d drop in a couple of sick notes for people on my way home from work.”

The armrest on the couch was so comfortable. So very comfortable, Albus thought as he pushed his legs out over the rest of the couch, settling in to wait. In what felt like a split second, he was falling asleep, and he couldn’t even remember who he was waiting for.
“There you are, kid. I’ve been looking all around the house for you. Grandma said you were upstairs and — are you sleeping?”
“It’’ll be really quick, promise. It’s just the perfect spot right there, it might take me weeks to find someone in that angle again. Your dogs can survive a couple more minutes, couldn’t they?”
“Lucky really hates it when I get home late and I’ve been working for twelve hours. He really needs his walk.”
“I see. I’ll ask Grandpére about it, but I still feel it has minimal purpose as of modern time. I’ll tell you if my thoughts have changed after I’ve spoken with him.”
“Perhaps he will finally be able to get you to embrace your French side a little more, mon petit chou.” She teased, grinning over at her sister.

“Of course, sorry I just wanted to help. I would learn but I’m not sure I’m up for healing, I don’t have the most steady hands and the sight of blood makes me nauseous at best and causes me to faint at worse. But if you ever need me to do anything that doesn’t involve blood, you can come to me. I work at Florish and Blotts.” Emily offered, she couldn’t quite help the feeling of embarrassment as she confessed her weaknesses to Victoire. She was useless if a wounded person was involved and more people would be wounded, so how could she help? How could she make a difference? She shook off those thoughts, her hand raking through her mane of wild black curls, nervously. “It’s back at Florish’, I was going to stay and do some more work before I closed the shop. Follow me.”
“There are plenty of other things to be done around here, if you’re certain you’re not up to healing. Like I said though, it’s more than book knowledge that’s needed really. There are people around who can help with things like duelling and understanding of the field if that’s more your scene.” Honestly, she just wanted to get home. Victoire was good and nice and kind, but after such a long shift when there had been so much going on, even she had to admit that she had to fight crankiness. Still, as much as she would have much rather apparated away and got coffee when she’d made it home, she would have to go to Florish and Blotts now. She knew she didn’t have it in her to be anything that might be seen as rude. She smiled still, and planned in her mind a way she could point out that she needed to walk her dog so she could escape once the coffee was done. “Alright, lead on.”
“That seems fair. I seldom check in here which makes me unaware of the procedure.”
“Do I need to tell you those things now?”
“You can write them down yourself, if you’d prefer. If not, I’ll have one of the medi-quills do it.”
“Merlin, wow. I mean, my father was a healer, so I always took his dedication as something only he had, but wow. Healers are amazingly selfless.”
“I’m sorry, this was so completely out of the blue– I’m Adrianna Thorne,” she held out her hand.
“Risks can’t be taken when it’s someone’s health at stake. We have to be dedicated so we can do our basic job.”
“Victoire Weasley, though I wouldn’t shake my hand at the moment. I haven’t been home and showered and I don’t even want to think about risking it.”

you can take everything i have, you can break everything i am, like i’m made of glass, like i’m made of paper, go on and try and tear me down, i will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper.
“Oh – no, wait! Stay there for a moment, please, you’re in the perfect position! I’ll only be a second if you let me quickly take a few shots.”
“I really need to get back home. I have to let my dog out...”

“Alright, okay. Who do the forms go to once I’ve filled them out?”
“Mostly just on file. I can’t treat you without them and it’s just to cover us if anything goes wrong. We also need to keep your medical record to check that you’re never over-prescribed with anything and so we know what you’ve taken if there are any complications.”
“It’s really just things like your name, age, whether you’re allergic to anything, how the injury occurred.”
“If it is purposeless, then why must it exist? All things should have a purpose otherwise it is incomplete. Our purpose is to learn, develop and recreate, but what is the purpose of a tall building that is a little pointy and cute?”
“Actually it was created by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel in 1889 to be an entrance arch for the Exposition Universelle, which was an event to celebrate the successes of the French Revolution. It sent out beacons in Red, White and Blue and housed a post office, a patisserie and offices for a newspaper. Grandpére has books on it in his study if you wanted to read them.”
“Pretty, yes. Practical, no. Why have something if it’s impractical? I’m sure she would appreciate it, but maybe a mini Eiffel Tower on a key chain would be sufficient?”
“Not everything in the world has to have a purpose, darling Dom. And why can’t the purpose of something simply be being pretty? If pretty things make people happy, then shouldn’t they be left alone?”
“I wouldn’t want the Eiffel Tower. It’s too impractical.”
“It would be pretty though, and I’m sure Maman would love to see us sporting something French for her.”
“You’re so demanding, Vic. You know I don’t like you buying me things.”
“It’s a drink, not the Eiffel Tower.”

“I don’t want to get into the specifics, but there’s bruising around my ribs and it’s difficult to breathe."
“Okay, if you want to go through to the inspection room on your left, I’ll get you to fill out some forms and then we can check whether you’ve done some serious damage or whether we can get you a potion for it.”
“No, you don’t quite understand. They did tell me everything ever. Too many times. I just don’t have the best memory, I guess. Was it during the Triwizard Tournament? He was… the son of the Minister of Magic, right? Don’t tell them if I’m wrong.” Lily made a playful grimace, followed closely by a shrug. “You’re doing a decent job and you definitely deserve that coffee for it! I don’t bully, I insist, and I wouldn’t worry much about that. If everything goes according to the plan, the grand Potter family name mojo will do its work and I’ll get my interview. We could get you something first so you’d stay awake and witness it, though. I wouldn’t like to Wingardium Leviosa you.”
“Chamber of Secrets. He was the famous guy who took the Defence class but it turned out he was lying about all of his ‘skills’ in the end. The memory charm he tried to use backfired and now he’s here with an addled out mind.” She laughed a little at the story, though she had always thought that the ones from her mother and father were better. “I wouldn’t bet it. My first day he pointed out that I wouldn’t be getting any special treatment for being a Weasley. He absolutely despises anyone using their name to get everything. You’d be kicked out the office if you even tried that one, or get the dreaded ‘some of us had to work for everything’ talk. And never mind about me, I’ve worked longer than this and stayed standing.”
