In this world, elven traits are recessive in certain people, and once in a few years, a person with dominant elven traits is born, gaining magic and a long lifespan

These people are usually targeted for their magic, so (if they’re able) they flee to enclaves outside of the cities to live in peace

Though they possess magic, their powers are inconsequential most of the time (maybe they can light a candle at most)

But occasionally, there are elves who possess more magic

And Aelita is an elf with the strongest magic power in recent history

Elves live in small enclaves throughout the world, protected from human society via the Lyoko Federation, which is an organization founded by elves and humans

Because they live long lives and reproduce so infrequently, they’re very sensitive to change and are often attacked by humans (hence requiring protection)

The enclaves each have a shield that surrounds them, powered by magic that needs to be replenished every century or so, but there hasn’t been an elf with enough magic to replenish it in decades, until Aelita

Aelita’s goal is to travel the world and replenish the shields before the enclaves are attacked by people who want to capture/enslave the elves (some have already been attacked)

Aelita has been raised by the Lyoko Federation and currently works for/is protected by them

However, they don’t have the resources or manpower to protect her from the various criminal organizations that want her for her power

Because of that, she hasn’t been able to actually leave the Federation, as they fear people will target her

However, fed up with staying inside while her people suffer, she sneaks out of the Federation HQ one day and runs into a certain blond-haired boy…

The Major Organizations

The Lyoko Federation

Their major aim is to protect Aelita and the elven enclaves around the world

Despite their magnanimous goal, they’re a very small group with limited resources

Thanks to Franz Hopper, they were able to obtain a lot of fancy, powerful tech, and many of them are equipped with the knowledge to use them

But that’s where their strengths end – they don’t have much in terms of bodyguards or “field workers,” nor do they have a lot of money

They’re essentially just a group of scientists

The Carthage Institution

Carthage works with elves to use their magic in a more legal way by writing contracts with them

On the surface, they use their magic to create various household tools and harmless tech

In reality, they trick the elves into binding contracts that force them to give up their magic or die

The magic is then used to create weapons, which they sell for a profit

X.A.N.A.

A notorious criminal organization that engages in almost every illegal act you can think of

The LW’s most dangerous enemy; they seem to have unlimited resources and zero limits as to what they’re willing to do to get Aelita

No one knows what X.A.N.A. means/what it stands for, who leads it, what they want, and why they want Aelita

(But it’s definitely nothing good)

Figuring out more about this group is one of their major goals

(The Kadic Society also exists, but they don’t really do much)
