I've been on a huge art nouveau kick lately (Mucha is one of my all time favourite artists and a huge inspiration for me) so I wanted to start an illustration series inspired by his Seasons paintings but with Monster High dolls!
Green is my favourite colour so this first piece has been a bit of a dream for me in terms of colour haha :P
I hope you all like her! I plan on doing pieces for the other seasons if there's enough interest so watch this space <3

JACQUELINE, or Jacqui ("Jackie") - Island Doll Dove in tan. I'd actually ordered them in 'Sunburned' but fell in love with this lovely warm tan when they arrived. Also painted by Andy (Angel Toast Aesthetics). 💖

this misty restyle was done by braiding ALL of her unbraided hair BY HAND!!! i didn't log my progress, but needless to say it took a very long time (~5 weeks of working on&off on it after work).
i also gave her a few accessories, &made the chain-tied legwarmers from scratch!
These tiny mossball kitties come from the same ponds and streams as koi dogs, and are often found rolling around with baby guppies. They may be small, but each one packs a big personality!
Some of these are already sold, but others will be part of a pondful of meowrimos at Anthrocon, July 3-5!

Tyler Wentworth, Party of the Season (1999)
-- Goodwill in Brewer, Maine

This beauty is why I spent $70 at Goodwill today. Well, I rounded up from $68ish, since I was paying with cash. She's one of the very first Tyler Wentworth dolls, made by Robert Tonner.
I am a big Tonner fangirl, so this felt like fate. Details and rambling below the cut!
I checked inside the box, and her necklace and "design portfolio" were included, along with the usual saddle stand. She also has her original shoes and pantyhose underneath. Whoever donated her was careful and put bubble wrap around her feet. Even her hair is still in the factory style!
Getting a straight-arm Tyler (without clothes) on ebay for $50 was common when I last looked, pre-2019ish. I had wanted one of the early basics, as I really loved their soft faces. This one has definitely been displayed, and the box is pretty scuffed. But the doll itself is in fine condition. Definitely worth the money.
=====
Is she a dolly grail? No, but she's close to one I had been softly eyeing, some years ago. As long as the face was okay, I would've accepted a bald one Tyler of that era. (Wigs are easier to keep tidy.)
Have I ever taken and shared photos of the LAST Tonner I bought? Also no. Oriole (as I've named her) was purchased brand-new around the time my depression really took me away from my doll hobby. She has the RTB-101 body, so it'll be nice to compare how the shape has changed over the years.
Honestly, I saw it and told my dad, "You gotta talk me out of this." But I also knew I'd regret leaving her behind - ESPECIALLY since I had more than enough cash. Dad said, "Have you been working on your other dolls?" Oof, good point, but this one doesn't need work. Maybe a damp cloth to wipe off dust and tame some stray hairs; totally not the same as my other shit.
Just look how the sun was shining through the kitchen window! She's so gorgeous in the sunshine. (Don't worry; she was promptly boxed up after pictures.)
Regarding older Tonner things in my collection, I have a "Casual Luxury" Tyler from 2001 packed away somewhere. I also have the outfit for "Fashion Design Weekly Special", along with other Tyler outfits for her to wear.
Collecting 1-4 scale dolls (bigger than Barbie) was something that my mom and I did together, so I have a soft spot for Tonner. (Mom liked Gene more, but Tyler had better articulation, circa 2003.) I can't quite explain the gravity of meaning with finding this doll - and in a thrift store I've never been to before!
I'm also pretty tired from the dental consult earlier, so my brain is fried.
