This doll had previously been rerooted by someone who was a little too aggressive with the reroot tool, and the center front scalp was...kind of a mess

I know there are glues that can fill in damaged vinyl, and provide a surface that can be rerooted, but I don't have any of that. I figured I could hide the damage with strategically rooted thatched bangs. It worked well enough, as long as you don't look too close.

The hair is from a RH Sunny, and I figured, since it's nylon, it should hold a tight curl. I was incorrect. I don't mind the mass of loose curls, but the heat needed to get the bangs to lay flat was not happening, so I slathered on the hair gel. (and I guess that explains why so many RH/SH dolls have so much hair gel, too.) I tied the gelled hair in place with a strip of cling film while it dried.

This doll had also arrived with paint added over the eyes and lips, and I had tried to remove that added layer with rubbing alcohol, but that also damaged the original paint, so I stripped it all off. Honestly, I don't like a lot of Jenny stock paint, so, on the one hand, I didn't feel bad about removing it, but, on the other hand, I wasn't sure how challenging it would be to repaint this face in a way that didn't end up still looking like the Jenny I don't like.

I decided to do new paint loosely inspired by Volks Who's That Girl Kana (these are old Volks stock images)

My doll has a lot of problems, but I like her so much more than I expected I could ever like a Jenny with yellow hair. (Respect to people who do like stock Jenny and /or yellow--variety is good!)
