…but what if its suddenly 2010 era fandom

i literally just screenshotted this off the gurren wiki— but for 2007, even falling into all the stereotypical flamboyant gay attributes in the series, they make Leeron Littner, a mechanic who is essential to the story— not just as an intelligent man that helps coordinates all the operations for team dai-gurren— but an important adult figure that guides simon, and especially rossiu in the second half of the season.

but even MORE now that im rewatching the movies for the first time in a while. every sexual joke for Leeron that was in the show was removed from the movie.

think about that, the only times i literally remember Leeron is queer is because i’ve been watching the series since i was 15/16 about 5/6 times a year. im watching these movies to celebrate my 30th birthday…i have this series memorized— IMPRINTED— in my brain.** im waiting to hear all the corny sexual innuendos, but they’ve all been taken out.

in retrospect to the anime to the movie… SO MUCH was removed or reorganized— but they really didn’t have to remove those bits about Leeron, but they CHOSE*** to. and the way they handedly she/they aged like an amazing glass of wine because now looking through MY cultural lenses i’ve grown to learn…Leeron is absolutely non-binary.
