DEPRESSING to miss 6 days for Fictober25 but I had a blast writing the 25 chapters that I wrote!!!
This was a test to see if I could write consistently for a long-ish period of time. I kinda sorta succeeded and failed at the same time?
Iâve never written consistently for a month, a week or two at most but never a month. Iâm glad I was able to write consistently for just over 3 weeks, thatâs an upgrade for me! Sad I couldnât keep it up for the entire month though.
Either way, I sincerely hope people had an AMAZING Halloween if you celebrate it and I look forward to Fictober26!
Iâll try and finish out the rest of the chapters on AO3 still, had some small ideas for certain days but also donât want to leave it unfinished. Aaaaand maybe Iâll try writing an actual multi-chapter story using some of the chapters I wrote for this as I was writing in multiple different AUs lol.

Resident Evil 8, Fanfiction
Another chapter featuring arguably my favorite of the daughters!
TW: Canon Typical Violence.
~680 word count.
Day 25 - âWeâve Done This Before.â
You messed up. Again. You donât know how many mistakes youâve made while working in this damned castle, but itâs been too many. The daughtersâ have taken to targeting you in specific because of how easily you mess up. Youâve spilt wine, broken countless vases and been caught trespassing where youâre not at all supposed to be. They harm you in many ways, but they refuse to outright kill you even though others have been killed for far less. Youâve become a plaything for them.
Your latest mess up just happened. Spilling wine is a sin in this household as the Ladies of the castle damn near worship the substance. However, the true mistake comes in where youâve spilt the wine. You spilled it on the cruelest of the three daughters, Cassandra. The room went still and no one breathed when it happened. You were leaning over her pouring it into her glass and made the mishap of tripping slightly. She wasnât even trying to scare you like she usually would and that is embarrassing as all hell. No one said a word, not her, her mother or her sisters. She simply looked at the wine on her dress then slowly raked her eyes up to meet yours. A wicked smirk that promised pain and suffering grew on her lips that you would love to see from anyone that wasnât her.Â
Nothing happened then. She looked to her mother, gave a nod, and dinner went on as usual. They ate and talked of the mundane things they didnât do in their everyday life and eventually the maids were dismissed. You didnât feel safe throughout the entire ordeal admittedly. You knew something was going to happen to you at some point. Cassandra didnât just let people get away with mistakes, she dished out punishment when and where she pleased and enjoyed every second of it. She was a sadistic monster of a woman and every maid in the castle knew that for fact. Still, nothing happened to you as you cleaned up and laid in bed for the night.Â
Sleep didnât come easy, it never did in this place. Your roommate, Safia, fell asleep early and it left you alone with your thoughts. Your head was filled with the violence you experienced in this place of death. You eventually fell victim to the sandman, but you did not sleep peacefully. You woke in the darkness of the night with a start and a strong hand wrapped tightly around your mouth and throat. Your scream was cut off before it could even be produced. Hovering above where you slept, bright yellow eyes bored into yours. Before you knew it, you were being lifted off the bed by the swarm of flies that came with the daughter. They were silent and bit at your exposed flesh as they carried you out of the room and into the hallway. You donât stop there though, youâre flown across the castle in every which way.
After many minutes of going in random directions to throw you off, youâre dropped harshly on a cold stone floor. Itâs still dark, but the descending staircase in front of you is much darker. Thatâs when the other presence makes itself known to you. A dark giggle from behind you has you looking back up into the sinister eyes of Cassandra. In the dim light you can just barely see the blood around her lips that are curled into a terrifying and toothy grin.
âStand up little rabbit. Weâve done this before. You have five minutes.â The scene hits you like a brick to the face. Hide and seek in the dungeons. Except itâs more like run and seek as youâre incredibly likely to be found if you stay in one spot. Thereâs no hiding from the huntress of house Dimitrescu. You scramble to your feet and nearly fall face first down the unlit staircase. It was going to be a long night and if you survived, you were going to be incredibly sore for the next few weeks.

FICTOBER 25, DAY 24
Resident Evil 8, Fanfiction
Hey!!! Late, I know. I am behind but I'm on vacation and trying to enjoy it, but the next two days will be dedicated to outright finishing this challenge, I'm gonna catch up and prewrite the chapters for the end of the month so I can enjoy Halloween stress free lol. For now though, enjoy a Miranda and Scientist Reader watching a cadou take place.
TW: Canon Typical Violence, Body Horror.
~450 word count.
Day 24 - âThereâs Not Enough Time.â
âHave you tried taking corpses from the village that havenât recently died?â Helping Miranda with her experiments provoked these kinds of questions. The morbid curiosity of a scientist with little to no morals was a cruel thing to witness and take part in, but the results were almost always fascinating.
âThereâs not enough time. The cadou needs a recently deceased corpse or live subject to take hold. Iâve noticed if the heart hasnât pumped in the last twenty-four hours, the thing just refuses to even acknowledge the body.â You were both hovering over the body of a male subject that had wandered too far into the forest at night and was unlucky enough to be picked up by a Lycan.
There were large lacerations in the manâs torso and many of his organs were brutally torn out by the beast man. His face was⌠unrecognizable to say the least. No doubt the villagers would find the man gone and his identity would be found eventually, but for now the manâs name is no matter. He is dead and if he is to come back, he will have no memory of his previous time of life. He will fall into the mass of other Lycans, turning grey and beastly quickly.
Miranda is speaking into a recording device, like she usually does whenever doing experiments and surgery. You, on the other hand, prefer taking physical notes. A heavy notebook and slim pen stay in your hands or in your presence while you work. Thankfully, youâre not doing much work at the moment, merely observing Miranda and offering up the occasional thought provoking question for her.
Eventually, Miranda grabs a glass container from a side table that contains the fist sized parasite that Miranda dubbed the âcadou.â She opens it above the open chest cavity in the corpse and the tentacles around the creature slowly wriggle out and hover towards the two of you first as youâre both living and breathing. It seeks life and warmth youâve gathered from the times Miranda has let you watch her place the creature. Once neither of you reach out for it, it starts to slide out of the container before it plops down into the cavity with a wet and sloppy noise.
After some poking and prodding, the creature moves around in the manâs chest making unholy sounds. Bones crunch, muscles snap angrily and the cadou wraps itself around the unmoving heart before squeezing harshly. Itâs a slow process after that. It takes days for the full transformation to take effect, but eventually, given there are no side mutations, the body that was once a living person will turn into another Lycan to be added to the hordes.

Hello, hello! Another Moreau and reader because Moreau is not written about enough in my opinion lol. Lady of the Lake needs more attention!!
~450 word count.
Day 23 - âI Believe In Us.â
Another day spent at the reservoir. You have been coming here more frequently since you told Lady Moreau your name. Almost every week, youâve come to the reservoir. Every time you came, the Lady of the lake was there waiting for you. She started talking to you a little more than she did before. Small things, really. Asking how your week was going, asking about things you liked and prying to find if anyone or anything had been bothering you. Each time you arrived, she asked if you still had the token. You did, of course. You managed to find an old necklace and had it hanging from your neck constantly.
Today was much like that day she gave it to you. Sky and water both clear as can be, slight breeze and the sun shining brightly in the sky. You were both sitting near the water, just like usual when the other woman asked you a question.
âAre we friends?â It was simple. Her tone was always the same, you found out very quickly. She always spoke low and it almost always sounded like a growl. She also almost never makes eye contact. Like now, she stares off into the water like she was talking to it instead of the person next to her.
âI would like to think so.â You say it with a smile directed at the other woman. What you can see of her face from the side doesnât change in the smallest manner. Sheâs silent for a few seconds before she looks at you with a concerning face.
âHow can a Lord and a villager be friends?â Her lips are thin, pressed together and her brows are knit together in a look bordering on confusion. The question is a good one, in her defense. Itâs unheard of, a Lord and someone of such little importance having any kind of relationship that doesnât involve being an employee, but you have an answer for her anyway.
âI think weâre doing fine just like this. I believe in us.â Your smile is still on your face and the words have an effect on her, though it is immediate. Her lips slowly turn up in a small smile, her teeth just starting to show. Theyâre sharp. You made her laugh once and the sight of them had surprised you greatly. All of her teeth ended in jagged points. It doesnât bother you much, to be honest.
After that, the Lady turns back out to the water and doesnât speak again. The smile stays on her face, so you assume you did well. You both fall back into a comfortable silence while you read and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Heyo! Another shorter one but still one I enjoyed writing. Heisenberg stays living her mad scientist lifestyle and reader is along for the ride!
TW: Canon Typical Violence, Description of a Dead Body.
~420 word count.
Day 22 - âAnd How Did That Work Out?â
Deep in the depths of the factory, you were working alongside Heisenberg. A body lay on the table in front of you, mutilated beyond recognition. The arms were replaced by metal rods, the torso heavily scarred from being opened up and having the insides toyed with and the head was covered in a metal casing. This was what Heisenberg was naming âSoldat.â This is what the lonesome woman had been working on for so long, what you have been helping her with for the past few months.
The two of you step away from the table and over towards the wall where a switch is. The switch is connected to a large coil of wires that connect to the table the body is laying on. Flipping this switch should send the power needed through to kickstart the heavily modified motor acting as a heart in the Soldats chest. Heisenberg flips the switch. A moment passes and the lights in the room flicker as electricity is pulled and directed into the body causing it to jerk up angrily, the muscles contracting like itâs alive.
The motor in the middle of the chest flares to life and a deep red light emits from it. The motor whirrs and the light gets brighter and brighter until the noise reaches a crescendo. The circuitry sparks and the body stops moving. The motor dies out, the light fading alongside it. The woman next to you sighs. Itâs a long and annoyed sound that you have grown very used to hearing.
âI forgot to replace the wiring⌠like you said I should do.â An admission of forgetfulness and a nod that you were correct when you pointed out the faulty wiring. You knew it would cause an issue but the âLadyâ had been too excited to finally get it up and running to care.
You smirk and look over to her. âAnd how did that work out?â She meets your eyes but you canât see how sheâs reacted to your joking jab in the dim light of the room. The fact that sheâs still wearing her signature sunglasses is also not helping you.
You feel a slight tug around your neck as your metal necklace pulls up and away from you, leading you towards the door. âWipe that grin off your face and go get the damn wires. We will get this working. Tonight.â You believe her. Once Heisenberg says that sheâs going to do something, she will get it done. Thatâs something you appreciate about the woman.

~1,000 word count.
Day 21 - âJust Be Honest.â
Spending time at the reservoir was always hit or miss. Sometimes the water would be clear, the sky would be cloudless and there would be a nice and gentle breeze. Other times the water would be murky, it would start to rain as soon as you got settled in and the wind would be nearly out of control. And on the very rare occasion, you would have company. That company came in the form of one Lady Salina Moreau.
The woman was something else entirely. Her skin was the color grey that you would find on a fish, her teeth and nails were abnormally long, nearly clawlike. Her hair was long, inky black and unkempt, yet it flowed down her head to her shoulders like it was taken care of. Her eyes were a murky green color that bordered on black when the light wasnât hitting them directly. She always wore tattered pants that were ripped at the ankles, a dark overcoat that had years and years worth of mending done to it and carried barnacles at its ends. The coat was never buttoned up you found, revealing that she never wore a shirt beneath it, nor undergarments for that matter. The first couple times you saw her like that, you found it difficult to look at the woman without blushing. The Lady also wore a crown of bones atop her head, youâre happy that you arenât knowledgeable enough to know what the bones come from.
Today was one of the good and rare days luckily. The weather was nice and had held up all the way through the setup of your spot along the watersâ edge, the sun was high in the sky with not a cloud in sight, there was a very slight breeze that had the tops of the trees moving, the water was as clear as it could be and to top it all off, Lady Moreau had joined you in your relaxation. You were sitting at the watersâ edge reading a book when her heavy footfalls came up from the direction of the docks.
She didnât say anything when she joined you, which wasnât unusual for her. She was a quiet woman and even when you did make conversation with her, she didnât say much. She also didnât need to ask to join you. Not only were you on her land, but you had also made it abundantly clear to the Lady that she was always welcome to join you. At first, it was out of fear. The woman was scary, she looked more like a monster that youâd see in childrenâs books than a Lord of the village. Over time however, you did get used to her presence. She wasnât violent in any way and she didnât intrude when she wasnât wanted. The one time you did ask her to leave you by your lonesome was when you were having a terrible day, and she did so without a question.
So you sit there in silence for a while simply reading your book while the other woman peers off into the lake before you. At least, until a sigh leaves her lips. You look up at her and she doesnât look your way.
âIs something wrong, Lady Moreau?â She still doesnât look at you so after a moment you look out to the lake as she is doing. Itâs a truly remarkable sight. The sun bounces off the water, lilypads dot the surface every few feet and dragonflies dart between the flowers.
She keeps her eyes out on the water as she speaks. âJust be honest. Do you think Iâm a monster?â Her voice is low, dark and gravely, not unlike a growl would be. But the words surprise you. This is the first she has been so⌠straightforward in her asking.
Your eyes drift back to her figure. Sheâs tall. Muscular. Long arms, long legs, both covered in muscle but also scars. Jagged scars. She has the skin tone of a monster and the looks of one, but you donât believe that she is one. âI donât think youâre a monster, no. Afterall, would a monster sit and enjoy the quiet of the water with a stranger? I believe you are trying to hold on to the humanity you have. A monster would do no such thing.â You know that sheâs not entirely human, she canât be. Something happened to her at some point in time, but she still has humanity in her and thatâs what matters to you.
Sheâs silent for a time. She keeps her eyes locked on the water, but you can see from the edges how her eyes glimmer in the sunlight. She speaks after another minute of silence. âThank you. I never asked your name. You donât need to tell me. Next time we meet.â She stops and finally looks at you. âHere,â she reaches into her right coat pocket and pulls out a metal object, âtake this. If anyone gives you trouble, just show âem that.â
The object she hands you is a token. Not just any token either, a token with the Moreau house crest on it. The curled mermaid stares into your eyes and renders you speechless. In your moment of stupor at this gift, the Lady gets up slowly and starts walking away. Her heavy footfalls are what breaks you back into the moment. Sheâs already far enough away that you would have to yell out for her. You choose not to do that. Next time you see her, you will tell her your name. Youâre mentally kicking yourself for not having already told her.
She doesnât even know your name but sheâs willing to give you a house token. Thatâs a serious thing. It shows that you have the favor and protection of one of the four houses. It makes you important. It gives you a tie to powerful people. Itâs something that youâre not sure you even wanted, but itâs yours now nonetheless. You pocket the square object and stare back out at the water. On the bright side, you wonât have to go to the castle for work in the future and that is something that youâre grateful for.

Hello! Late and short chapter here, not only did I struggle with ideas for the prompt, but I wanted to spend my days off trying to catch up on gaming instead of writing lol. Hope you enjoy either way!
~360 word count.
Day 20 - âTrust Me, This Will Work.â
Youâre stood outside on one of the castleâs many different balconies with Daniela. She was insistent on bringing you out here and she wouldnât tell you why. You understand why she wouldnât tell you once you were both out there. She wants to carry you, in her swarm of flies, down to the ground. Is she insane?
âTrust me, this will work.â Sheâs holding your hand very tightly. âIâve been practicing in private and I wanted to surprise you, I promise I wonât drop you.â Her green eyes bore into you, looking incredibly sincere. You trust her, warily. So you walk with her to the balcony railing. Her smile is almost as bright as the sun high above the both of you and it does wonders to ease your anxiety about the situation.
She leans in and kisses you deeply. You lean into it. Her lips are soft and for a moment you are able to completely forget about whatâs going to happen. In that moment, Daniela morphs into her fly swarm and you go tipping over the edge and out into the open air. A scream leaves your lips before youâre surrounded by hundreds of large flies that have a green shimmer in the bright light. You fall for a few moments, and then a few more. Then you realize that you arenât falling anymore. The balcony is still right a few feet away from you.
After the realization hits you, you start laughing almost maniacally. The fly swarm slowly lowers you down to the ground, the balcony growing farther and farther away. Soon enough your feet are on the soft grass and Daniela is back in her human form standing directly in front of you. Her smile is larger than before somehow and she looks positively giddy. You throw your arms around her in a big hug and pepper her face in small kisses that she takes in stride.

A time jump ahead in the POV of the original maid! Welcome back Briana, super glad you made it through winter!
TW: Canon Typical Violence, Mentions Of Death.
~800 word count.
Day 19 - âYes, I Missed This.â
Itâs been some months now. It took a lot of getting used to, but you took every hit thrown your way. Lady Bela does a lot of paperwork, and you have to deliver and acquire texts and documents for her. Not a hard thing to do by any means considering what else you could be assigned to do, but finding the documents was the issue. The cabinets that the Ladiesâ kept things in were dreadfully unorganized you found out rather quickly. The libraries were much the same. You donât know the amount of hours you spent trying to track down one paper for Lady Bela. However, eventually throughout the first couple months, you were able to internally organize it yourself since you were the main person dealing with it.
You found out a lot of things in this time, many of them you could very well do with forgetting. Things like how the wine that the Ladiesâ drink is made from maidens blood, you thought the name of the wine was ironic, not literal. That was how you found out that every maid who has ever worked for the Dimitrescu family was a virgin. Thatâs how you found out where all the maids who make mistakes go. Lady Bela dealt with many of the letters sent out to families and the compensation agreed upon in their contracts. You now dealt with it as well. A couple of the maids that had started alongside you were no longer here and that made you feel something that you couldnât quite put a name on.
But Spring time was now in full effect. The bitter chill of Romanian winter was gone, birds were chirping their morning singsongs and the sun shone brightly in the clear sky. This meant that the Ladiesâ would be less irritable. That meant the possibility of less death. That was a good thing. You survived the winter. You wonder if Lady Bela hadnât taken you as her handmaiden if you would have survived, if you would have made a mistake in front of Lady Cassandra. You think you might have. Lady Cassandra may have even tried to get you to make a mistake from what youâve seen her do.
A voice that youâve grown very used to over the past few months reaches your ears. âCome, Briana.â A simple command that snaps you out of your thoughts. You stood near a side entrance to the castle waiting for Lady Bela to arrive. She had told you that she wanted to take a walk today, she hadnât taken one since the beginning of Autumn and wanted to change that today as she had no paperwork left to do. You rush over and hold the door for your Lady as she steps outside into the bright sun.
Sheâs still wearing the signature black dress, long dark cape with the hood and gloves that closed around her entire arm, but her usual dark heels were replaced with boots that you would usually see on a person getting ready for a hike. As the sun hits her, she takes the hood down and the light nearly reflects off her pristine blonde hair. She raises her head up to face directly towards the large light in the sky and a small smile grows on her face. A smile that you havenât seen too much. A smile that she never allows on her face in public areas such as this.
You walk over to where sheâs standing and the warm sun hits you as well and you think that you understand what sheâs feeling. After a dark and cold winter full of mistakes, blood and death, the warm day and sun on your skin almost feels like a balm for the soul. A remedy for all the suffering or a dark reward for making it through alive. A breathy sigh leaves the lips from the woman next to you and you meet her gaze as she looks to you.
âYes, I missed this. I do hope that youâre ready to be out here plenty for the foreseeable future, Briana. Come, walk with me.â Lady Bela starts walking ahead of you and you hurry to catch up to her, walking just behind her to her right. Nothing is said for a while and you both fall into a comfortable silence while the birds chirp and fly through the air and the trees around along the grounds sway in the gentle breeze. You fall back into thought. If the Lady would like to spend more time out here, you wouldnât be angry at all. In fact youâd prefer more time outside of the stuffy castle, more time away from the place of death and decay.

I feel this one could be fleshed out some more but it's almost 8am and I need to sleep for work later lmao. Enjoy our first Factory chapter!
~770 word count.
Day 18 - âI Think I See It.â
The factory was a damn maze within a maze that was constantly having its layout changed around. Thatâs what it felt like to you, at least. The hallways always looked different, the contents of rooms would seemingly change at random and stairways would just appear in places that you swore didnât have one the day before. You were currently trying to make your way to the random offshoot room that Heisenberg chose for todayâs work. The woman was a tinkerer, she was always working on something and her interests in projects changed like the seconds ticked by.
You know youâre late, but you eventually find the woman bent over a worktable in the middle of a room that you know was a storage room yesterday. Her peppered hair is up in a knot on her head and sheâs wearing a long sleeved white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. You have no doubt that the front of it is already dirty. Her hat and trench coat lay on a table up against the wall. When you enter the room, she looks up from the heap of metal and wires on the table to look at you, her dark sunglasses hang on the tip of her nose as she levels you with a blank stare bordering on glare.
âYouâre late, darlinâ.â She looks down at the old watch on her wrist. âBy about fifteen minutes at that. How long is it going to take for you to learn the layout? Do you need a map or something?â She raises an eyebrow at you and you sigh. You donât think youâll ever truly learn the layout, but you refuse to let the smug woman provide you with a map of the factory. The ammo that would give her would never run out, youâre afraid. You shake your head and move to the table the older woman is standing at.
âI do not need a map. And I wasnât lost, I just lost track of time.â A true lie and youâre sure the other woman knows it, but she doesnât argue. You donât think she cares, truly. âWhat are we working on today?â The mess on the table makes no sense to you at all. Itâs just a bunch of metal and wires from what you can tell. Thatâs all everything is whenever you start helping the woman, but it eventually turns into something that she finds useful.
Heisenberg moves some things out of the way to find an incredibly crude blueprint buried under the mass of metal. She hands it to you and then moves towards a storage drawer across the room. The blueprint is one that youâve seen before, one that youâve used multiple times now, but the pieces donât fit the ones youâve used before. Youâre building more motors. You swear that the woman is mad and obsessed with them. Youâve built so many of them youâve lost count. She comes back to the table with a bunch of tools in hand and drops them all on the table. Sheâs stupidly disorganized. She gets to work without any words being spoken and you fall into step beside her, passing any tools that she requests.
You go to pass Heisenberg a screw and completely miss her hand. It falls and hits the floor with a clink and rolls under the table. You sigh and get down on your knees to try and find it. Under the table is dark and you canât see anything. A flashlight floats its way down to give you some light. Youâre still not incredibly used to the ability that the Lady has. She can move metal without touching it. Why didnât she just grab the screw before it fell? You roll your eyes at the thought. The light glints off of something and you reach for it.Â
âI think I see it.â You have to lean in a way that you canât properly see where youâre reaching, but after some fumbling, the cold metal makes contact with your hand. You grab it and sit up on your knees, thrusting the screw in the air. Looking up, Heisenberg is just staring down at you with a smirk on her face.
âHave fun down there?â The smile is wiped off your face as you grumble and stand back up. Stupid Lord and her stupid powers making you look like a fool. The rest of the building goes as smoothly as Heisenberg lets it, thereâs some teasing from the woman but nothing harmful. The afternoon passes like that, easy and boring work with one of the most powerful people in the village.

Hey welcome! Enjoy the POV of a villager! One that's not got too much time left in this world...
TW: Canon Typical Violence, Death.
~620 word count.
Day 17 - âYouâre Not Alone.â
The house is quiet, it has been for hours now. Youâre afraid to move. The howls had encompassed the entire village. The screams, Black God, the screams. Theyâve long since died out but you can still feel them in your bones. The Lycans made their way into the village and it was a slaughter. You made it back inside and luckily, or unluckily, you werenât followed. Your breathing evened out about an hour ago but you still havenât moved from your spot under your bed.You had no means of protecting yourself and you were afraid any sound at all would alert the beastmen of your presence. Theyâd surely break down your walls just trying to get in.
The wind howls outside as the light slowly dims. After hours, the window above your bed creaks open slowly. The wind grows in volume and you resist shifting your hands to cover your ears. Your bed creaks from the weight put on it a moment later, the mattress nearly squashes your back. The weight doesnât let up, almost as if whatever or whoever is sitting on your bed. Your suspicions are confirmed when a pair of feet wearing dark black shoes plants themselves on the wooden floor right in front of your face. A dark voice bounces off the walls of your mind a second later. âYouâre not alone,â the voice soothes. It doesnât feel right.
Itâs almost as if the voice is meant to make you feel safe when you obviously were nowhere close to being so. The feet slowly start tapping to a rhythm thatâs unknown to you. Then a whistle is added to the tune. A sharp and abrupt noise that contrasts harshly with the low thumping of the wood. Wings flap in the room and a crow lands on the ground next to the feet, its dark beady eyes staring straight into your own. You nearly scream. Nearly, but you know that if you did, it would be a death sentence.
It caws in your face and flaps its wings at you. A hand reaches down from above you to pet at the bird. The fingers are slender and pale and the crow pushes its head into them like it craves the touch. The hand flattens out and the bird hops onto it as itâs raised out of your view. The person sitting above you speaks and you go pale at the sound of her low voice.
âThe quicker you accept that youâre going to die, the quicker youâll find peace, little bird.â Itâs Mother Miranda. The protector of the village, Mother Miranda. Priestess of the Black God, Mother Miranda. What is she talking about? Why would she want you to accept that youâre going to die? Why⌠She must have chosen to let the Lycans in. Thereâs no other way they wouldâve been able to attack in plain daylight. She must have. Everyone is dead and gone, soon youâll join them you assume, because of the woman you thought was your protector since you were a little girl.
Almost as soon as the acceptance of that fact comes over you, a harsh pain in your shoulder causes you to scream out. You canât move your head to look so you scramble out from under the bed. Every movement hurts but you manage to make it out. The woman is gone. The window is still wide open. You look at your shoulder in the mirror across your room. Itâs bleeding. Itâs bleeding a lot. Thereâs a dark red splash of your own blood oozing out of it. A howl echoes from outside your window and you know then, you are not alone and you are going to die today.

Day 16 - âI Will Never Forget This.â
The night is dark and cool. The moon is high in the air and the stars shine brightly through the almost invisible clouds. The forest is thick, dark and foreboding as the trees sway slightly all around you. You should not be out here this late, you know that. The danger is clear as wolves and creatures resembling wolves howl far off in the distance. The sounds send a shiver down your spine and you quicken your pace through the leaves.
You donât actually have any real reason for being out here aside from wanting to watch the stars and not be bothered by anyone else in the village. The others could get⌠annoying, at times. They worried too much for your liking. You understood why, but you were an adult and knew just like everyone else just what dangers lurked in the shadows. But you also knew the beauty that hid itself in the dark hours of the night.
Some ways into the woods along the south western side of the village, there was a clearing with a slight hill in the middle. Thatâs where you were headed. The hill rose to about the top of the surrounding trees, which were luckily shorter than the majority, and gave a beautiful view of the starry night sky. You wanted to see that view.
After a short trek, you reach your destination. The clearing is void of any life thankfully and you make your way to the top of the hill. The view is everything you wanted that night. The moon is high in the sky and shines almost as brightly as the sun it feels. The stars are like tiny diamonds against the blackness that is the night sky. The wispy strands that are the clouds drift along without a care in the world.
âI will never forget this.â The words spill from your mouth in a reverent whisper. You were set up to start working at the castle next week. You know what that means, everyone does. You were handpicked by the Lady herself. You were going to spend the rest of your life, however long you lasted, in that damn castle. You wouldnât get to have this view again, so you were going to remember it.
You have no idea how long you sat on the hill, just watching the moon drift by. Eventually your eyes grew heavy and you started the trek back through the woods to your home. Howls were present, but you were not accosted by any Lycans fortunately. You made it home safe and sound. The house was empty. It had been for the past few months. You make your way upstairs and flop down onto the soft bedding. The moon shines through your window and you sleep peacefully.
