It’s quite stereotypically villainous of him, truth be told. The thrill that rushes through him as he watches someone become a killer.

But there is something about this girl. She seems sweet and young. And there is something to be said about the corruption of the good-hearted — it tastes like honey on his tongue to watch a fall from grace. He gets high on it. On watching beautiful things get broken. On watching pretty girls grow sharp teeth.

I always felt like she had to restrain herself not only magically but also emotionally. She always had to put her emotions somewhere safe to deal with later. I just thought it might be fitting to portray her with some kind of chains restraining her.

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn something for the rights and wrongs series or any actual art all if I’m being honest. And what better way to get back into it than with the stories that made me start drawing to begin with. Thanks to @lovesbitca8 for being such an inspiration 🤍

“Emma and I have always loved each other, really.”

“Do you know what today is?” he asks, stepping around the low table in front of the loveseat, positioning himself in front of the windows.

Even when he’s not facing her, he feels Hermione’s eyes on him. He turns to her. His skin feels alive, suddenly manic.

She shakes her head.

“If I’ve been counting right, and I’m not sure I have, but—I think it’s my birthday.”

He’s going to be sick. Desperation practically spills from his pores, an unfortunate flood inside his chest, surging with a new tide.

She blinks. “It is?”

He nods. He has to turn away again. He can’t look at her when he says this. The blueish, pre-dawn glow isn’t enough cover. He can barely look at himself, a hinted reflection in the glass.

“There’s something I think I’d like for my birthday.” He fights off the urge to ball his fists. “If you’re feeling giving.”

“What’s that?” comes her quiet question.

“To pretend.”

“No — I don’t think we’ve done nearly enough to each other.”
