Witchfather is a title, generally referring to any male/masc entity who will initiate (or at the very least, become a primary tutelary spirit) for a person who wants to become a Witch.

Because Witchcraft is not a generic term for any kind of magic, Witchfathers therefore are not any male/masc initiatory spirits: they are initiators into Witchcraft. And this lends to there being a specific archetype.

Of this, I assume when people speak of The Witchfather they are referring to the broader archetype, but you will also see many people referring to My Witchfather to clarify they mean only a single entity and not the archetype.

Of any particular entity who can be categorized this way as a Witchfather, they may have multiple aspects or facets which are not easy to untangle, and a major part of this is IMO the preconceptions and filters of the individual practitioner.

For example, people who generally regard the Witchfather as just being 'what if Cernunnos was an emo daddy dom' may have an easier time connecting to his primeval wilderness aspects as a haunter of forlorn places, but may wholly reject that other strands such as Azazel-Cain lore are connected to the entity they are working with.

Even if a single, individual entity fits into the archetype of Witchfather, which aspects they exemplify or express will be unique to them. And of those expressions, the practicing witch may be able to see and accept them, or not.

You are who you associate with, and you know what they say,

Many prescribe cleansings before and after, they might suggest doing curse work as infrequently as possible, and/or they tell you to keep all cursework outside the home. While this is good advice for the general practioner but for those who do this type of work, regularly for clients and themselves, more practical guidance is needed.

Let me explain a little further,

When we set up household protections for example, we are creating an alarm system. Now compare this to when real security alarms go off, it frequently doesn't stop whatever is happening especially if these are silent alarms. You still should get out of bed with that bat, check your cameras, and be cautious. Because the intruder/attacker might not know they set off your alarms or they might be so desperate they don't care. So you'll need to do something to keep yourself safe just incase.

I look at baneful wards the same way, it's like laying a beartrap. Sure the trap was set off, but maybe they were clever and used a decoy to set off the trap, maybe they sawed their own legg off and kept moving. You just don't know until you check. Which is where good divination skills come in handy.

Based on my upringing and oersonal understanding, repetition in these contexts is rarely for emphasis alone. It is a way of establishing position.

Many folk actions are not performed in an empty world but in one presumed to have depth—surface, verge, and beyond. A single act occurs only in the immediate place. A second confirms it. The third carries it across.

You can see this in formulaic speech. The first utterance addresses what is plainly present, the second reaches what is nearby but unseen, and the third fixes the matter so that it cannot easily be mistaken as accidental. After three, the action is no longer occurring; it has occurred.

This is also why the third is often the binding one. Promises sworn thrice, names called thrice, and knocks given thrice move from attempt to declaration. The number is less mystical than procedural: it converts a moment into a state.

Laura Willowes, dubbed Aunt Lolly by her family, is the titular protagonist of Sylvia Townsend Warner's Lolly Willowes. After years of being patronised by her relatives, she escapes for the country, a village of Great Mop in the Chiltern Hills, where she discovers her true calling as a witch.

There, upon encountering the Devil, she makes a compact with Him. She is thus presented a familiar in the form of a kitten, which she names Vinegar. Soon after, too, she is introduced into the folds of a local coven.

Some of the family, particularily her nephew Titus, follow in suit of their Aunt Lolly. To protect her peace, she makes use of her familiar and sends Vinegar after Titus. The impish feline causes the young man a great deal of trouble and bad luck, but it is only after Satan's interference that the youth returns to town.

The Three Witches, also known as the Weird Sisters, are the soothsayers who predict Macbeth's succession to the crown of Scotland in William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Macbeth. Their forecasts influence the Thane's actions throughout the play and, eventually, lead him to his undoing.

They work their craft under Hecate's direction, though, when meddling with Macbeth's fate, initially without her knowledge or consent. They also hold power over the winds and can call on them.
