Yalls desire to replace the term “terf” is so grating. There’s nothing wrong with the damn term and pushing childish misinformation is fucking aggravating.
No, you don’t need multiple terms to differentiate types of terfs. No, you can’t “appropriate” feminism, there have bigoted feminists since the movement’s origin. And no, a childish acronym that sounds like an elementary school joke does not need to replace the well known, well defined term we all use. Is our plight that much of a fucking joke to you?
Also, I have talked about this before, but the reason radfems are dangerous to trans community specifically is in how they weaponize institutions that are nominally “feminist” in order to push measures in spaces that are harmful to trans women into greater societies from those institutions. It’s no coincidence that sexologists that have made trans healthcare nigh impossible to access on informed consent terms pal around with TERFs. Stripping them of the title of “feminist” or whatever without actually purging them from the institutions literally does nothing to help trans women and actually obfusticates how TERFs harm trans women.
If people that jump through so many hoops to avoid calling TERFs feminists want to actually help trans women, they should try chasing TERFs out of any institution that they have power over, at minimum, especially in nominally feminist spaces. Feminism is a series of frameworks through which we analyze material reality, not a moral position. Feminism, like being LGBT+, has no inherent moral implication and if feminists are using feminist institutions to push harm, then they should be called what they are instead of thinking that feminism can somehow be tainted by admitting material reality.
