Your relationship starts as strictly professional, but Siebren is unlike any noble you had ever met. His brain was fascinating and you loved hearing him speak of his old research and studies.

Siebren likes the way you smile and in a moment when you seem distracted, he just says it. You blush and try to act like nothing happened, but Siebren noticed. He always noticed you.

He asks you to dinner one day because you seem overworked and deserve some pampering. For a while, these dinners are fairly professional, but then he insists on taking the meals away from the dining hall.

You're out on the balcony together when you accidentally let it slip that you often think about kissing him. You think about a lot of things, like what his life would have been like if he had continued down his path of research instead of the military.

Siebren admits that he wishes he had been more passive to avoid his ruthless reputation, but that it had led him to you, so it had to be worth it. It's then that you realize just how different Siebren is from the man you had expected.

The two of you dance around a relationship, but it's when one of his advisors suggests making you leave that he finally goes for it. Technically, he tells you how he feels and gives you the choice after thinking. He asks for you to take a week to think about it, but will give you more time if you need.

Things don't change much when you accept other than you have a few more guards near your room before you move into his. People had been whispering about you before you acknowledged your feelings for each other, so that's not new.

Siebren keeps you as is personal assistant until you're married because the Empress Queen can't have such a "menial" job according to everyone else. Siebren hates having to replace you because "nobody does things the way you did"

You're the first to notice the little slips with Siebren. It happens when he re-opens the labs and picks up on his work. It's small, but you notice the episodes where he isn't quite himself.

The instability grows as a new threat emerges and Siebren picks up the mantle of Sigma once again to lead his armies like he once had. Something is different about him in battle, but Siebren still returns to you in one piece which is what matters.
