Korra is my homegirl

Korra is the first fictional female character who is so cool, badass, nuanced, flawed (in a relate-able way), and well-developed that I genuinely became confused how I felt about her.  I wasn’t sure if i wanted to be like her, or be with her.  Probably both.  As a (somewhat) normal straight guy, this was a weird, awkward, and kind of embarrassing/ uncomfortable mental place I found myself in.  It really messed with my preconceived notions of gender roles and ideas of masculinity.  It’s scary as a man, confessing that I identify with and admire a female character so much that I’m not sure if I’d rather be in her shoes or in her pants.   It’s so hard to describe how I feel about her.  I’m pretty sure if I were a woman, Korra would turn me very gay.  But I’m already a guy who likes girls, so...#Korrasexual

So, I’m posting this picture for 2 reasons.  First, it’s funny.  But secondly, I posted this on my personal Facebook account, and a friend commented with “Whorra”.  I was pretty enraged, and immediately laid the smackdown on my friend.  He’s a good friend, but I couldn’t let this slide.   This is 2016.  Outdated player vs. slut double standards are so 2 centuries ago.  Let’s be honest, men hate women for promiscuity or brazenly enjoying sex mainly because it wasn’t with them.  It’s out of a kind of jealous entitlement.  Don’t perpetuate this vile double-standard and make women ashamed of their own biological drives.  We don’t do this to men.
