So, this is less of a 'I talk about my blorbo' ramble and more of a general thought process. I want to say, I am someone who loves to write Varrick as close to Canon as I manage to, but I also love to throw in headcanons and take liberties with my writing as I go. Which is, I think, one of the beauties about roleplaying both, OCs and Canons.
We have these ideas, and in the case of Canon muses, we also have the source material to look at, and we can just yeet our muses out there into this huge, massive sandbox from there, to meet other muses and see where it goes.
I want to admit to you guys, I used to be someone who's been all about 'make it make sense' when characters meet, and I still have those moments where I am pondering 'why and how could they possibly meet for it to make sense'. But really, let's just have them meet each other and have fun first of all, and we can worry about the details later, if at all xD
But I can't stress one thing enough: Never worry about the portrayal of your character when you write with me, I am very open-minded as far as that goes. Be it Canon or OCs. Whether someone is strictly canon, canon-divergent or using sources that some people wouldn't even consider canon... your characters are all valid and I love them all equally. Gimme your characters with your spin and flavors to them. Tell me about your lovely OCs.
See, I've decided to look at the Comics (there's just not enough Varrick in them D,X) and the Roleplay Booklets available for the Avatar Universe, and they gave me a base on writing Varrick post-cartoon, with Zhu Li becoming president and Varrick having to operate more independently again. And I REALLY love building up on that tbh. Idk how much the people here consider the roleplay booklets as canon-material, but I think they seem pretty fun as a source of additional ideas to work with.
For one example, Varrick having someone (Hongmei) to take care of Varrimovers International in his stead while he is busy with his main business, being an inventor and Zhu Li's loyal husband, makes perfectly sense to me.
But yeah, that's just a longwinded way of me saying that I really still love rp for writing with people and discover all the potential plots and interactions between our muses. And that I'm very chill about portrayals. The rpc itself definitely has many issues, some I struggle with myself constantly, but let's not forget the beauty about it all. And writing Varrick brings me much more joy than I anticipated when I set his blog up.
