RENDERING TIPS YOU TALENTED SOUL PLEASEEEEEEE PLEASEPEASEEEE I CANT DO THIS ANYMORENIM SO ASS ANS HOW DO IYOU DRAW FACES N SHIT N
Hellooo nonnie!! All of you are so so kind and tooth rottingly sweet and I've only started posting here sinceโwhat, two days ago?
If I'm being so honest with you, I sortaa kinda don't know what I'm doing most of the time, especially when rendering something that isn't skin and hair like clothes. I'm not the best tipper or explainer here, but I'll give it my best shot!
Faces? Not too much of a trouble, here's what I usually do! (using the hyrule piece i made as another example)
When it comes to rendering faces, I first add a muted orange-reddish color on the lips, nose, cheeks, underneath the eyes (for aegyosal) and any shadows like underneath the hair or eyebrows. I blend it all in. Coming in with a more orange color, I add it around the nose, lips, cheeks, chinโjust anywhere surrounding those red colors! Using that orange tone i add the philtrum. Using a shade lighter than the skin tone but not pure white, I add highlights on the tip of the nose (you can also add it on the inner corners of the eyes and lips)
You can experiment with various shades of orange and red. Personally I prefer skintones that leans more on the orange and yellowish side, I don't do skintones with pink undertones!
As for rendering hair? I take a slightly darker shade of the haircolor and airbrush it on the top and bottom part of the hair. I add in my flat shadows using a darker shade. Using a low opacity multiply layer, I take a more vibrant and light shade of the hair color (ex. Using light orange for brown hair) and airbrush it on the top and bottom part of the hair. On another low opacity layer, use the haircolor's complementary color and put it on the shadows for variationโdon't be afraid to play around w/ the blending mode, whether you want it using overlay, screen, multiply.. just test it all out and see what you prefer! Add various other hairstrands, your lineart doesn't matter, you can disregard it for adding stray hairs
But after all that, I usually just wing it instead. Using the color wheel, I take in various different shades of the hair color and use it as extra details, as seen in my four artโ
There are a lott of different shades of yellow, some darker, some more vibrant, some desaturated..
Not the best tip but this really is what I do! I'm not a fan of memorization so I don't have much of a plan in my mind whenever I start a piece, I just adjust on the color wheel
I hope this not-so-helpful-guide helped! Don't ask me about the clothes, I have approximately zero idea how to render 'em
But to end this off, I really want to send out my gratitude for all of your kind words, everybody who has ever commented or liked or rebloggedโtrust me, it really motivates me seeing all of your praises!! Makes me puff out my chest a bit in pride loll! I'm seeing some of my favorite lu artists in my notifications too!!
