Natalie Portman (@nportmanofficial) made sure #GoldenGlobes viewers were aware that no woman was a Best Director nominee during the 75th annual awards ceremony on Jan. 7. Portman appeared alongside Ron Howard, who introduced the category by saying they were honored to present the award, before Portman chimed in. โAnd here are the all-male nominees,โ she told the crowd, drawing loud cheers and laughs. Despite being behind some of the highest grossing and critically acclaimed movies of the last year, female directors like Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) and Dee Rees (Mudbound) were not nominated for Best Director. Guillermo del Toro won the award for his film, The Shape of Water.
