Skillshare, Premium Membership Onboarding

After paying for premium membership, the customer gets to pick topics s/he’s  interested in (I didn’t get to take the screenshot for this). Afterward: 

“bookmark” / save classes the person is interested in. it requires 5 before the Continue button is activated, but because they have quite a number of classes already, together with infinite scroll on the page, it’s very easy to lose track of how many have been picked and the customer can easily end up saving a lot of classes for later. because it has low commitment (none at all!), the customer can pick as much as s/he wants. this makes it easier for the first-time premium user to pick a class when he/she is ready to start learning because she already has narrowed down some of her choices. this step is also a good way to make the new customer become a more familiar with what Skillshare has to offer (like a soft dive)

next step is inviting other users. they effectively increased the customer’s motivation to get extra months (as the incentive) on his/her account because s/he has seen JUST how many classes they offer. now they know that however much they paid probably isn’t enough time to cover the classes they want to take, and they have nothing to lose getting an extra month free if a friend signs up.

Facebook’s invite feature is a bit more aggressive 

It imports (saves) your contacts

You can delete imported contacts (or delete all) afterward, but if you don’t, the info is kept 

After importing contacts, it will show you people who already have Facebook accounts so you can immediately add them as friends

quick links to popular mail clients: Gmail, Windows Live/Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail 

shows a popup if I choose to invite (with link) via Facebook then from the Facebook popup, you can chose to share in your wall, group, or via Direct Message 

when importing contacts, it will ask your email client for permission then generate a list. it doesn’t seem to save your contact list because even after giving permission, if you close the popup window and try to use the same client, you will go through the whole login and give permission process again

I linked my Gmail and expected the app to somehow give me a list of my Gmail contacts but it never loaded anything. Even if I typed something on the Gmail search box, it didn’t auto suggest any.

You can still browse and move to the succeeding pages

Clicking on the filter options refreshes the page and applies adds the filter to any current filter that’s on (so it seems to work like a link rather than a form)
