Creative Coding

For this week I have worked on Data Visualization. This is a 5 day analog of my time spent on Facebook. This was  great project. I had fun experimenting with the data. Here’s a CSV link with all the data that I uploaded in the data folder in the p5.js sketch.

This week I worked on DOM. Played with one of my previous assignment of the sheep. Made is interactive using texts, sliders, color picker. Adding Spectrum.js to the library along with Rita.js. This was a fun assignment where we worked on making it interactive with adding HTML tag elements to sketch using the child elements!

Worked on objects this week, created a particle system of stars and used array functions.

This week I played with texts. Using Rita.js library and exploring with different functions of nouns , adjectives and rhymes.

Lissajous Curves with different shapes and color. Exploring with sin() and cos(0 in shapes and color to get this generative design. Also using rotate and translate in this sketch.

For this week’s assignment, I used translate, rotate and scale to create Fireworks!!! Creating three kinds of function, spiralDesign, fireworksDesign and randomBalls. When mouse pressed the spiral designs are created, and a key is pressed the fireworks are created. And once the firework design touches the width or height of the canvas, they turn into random balls!

Week 5 assignment- Character creation.

This week I attempted to create a funny sheep character moving in the field, trying to twitch with the functions using parameters for the animation.

This is a replication of one of the sketches from Josef Albers, Interaction of Colors. 

Used HSB, colormode, modulus, array, loop, random and variables for this code in P5.js. 

And here’s the final one of the trio of Week three assignment, Sketch 3. This one took forever to grasp since I was trying to create a rhythmic pattern and movement with each square. Using for loop, random, and array function to push the colors in the sequence I wanted to. Took forever to get this on! But, I love how it came out. :)

Here’s another one, Sketch 2 for Week 3, using beginShape() and endShape to flesh out the Islamic tessellation motif and then for loop for creating a repeat pattern. Also using, random function to add dynamics in the color.

Since this week we had to create patterns. I created this p5.js file, Sketch 1 using for loop and random function. Here is the Video of it!

This week I worked on Wassily Kandinsky’s Blau(Blue) design, which is also a part of the Google Art Project on Geometric Abstraction.

The reason why I chose this particular artwork as it seemed to capture the essence of life. Our life never seems easy. It takes you through highs and lows. And this scene replicates an abstract form of a ship-wrecking cause of a storm. The boat seems to loose it’s control cause of the high waves, capturing life again. The ladder shows that we can make it through these suffering times. Making this particular artwork, a beautiful narrative work of Kandinsky’s. The compelling story being told through this art is what that caught my eye and I decided to work on it. Seemed easy in the beginning but this was a rollercoaster ride from a novice trying to code. But I have to tell you, these five days has taught me a lot! Hope you like my replication of BLAU! I’m surely beginning to enjoy creative coding now :D
