It's really interesting the parallels you've alluded to between Dick and Wally! Do you think there are characters who recognise the parallel between them? And do you think eithet of them do?
I mean Roy probably, being that he'll be the one to drag them out hissing and spitting when they're trying to hide their serious problems like sick cats, and is the one to think "wow! that's really concerning!" when one of them says something particularly unhinged. Donna likewise often gets stuck dealing with their issues and is very close to both of them, so I'm sure she's made some comparisons. Bruce has absolutely noticed, iirc he's directly compared them once or twice? And imo it's one of the reasons he tends to like Wally and has been known to ask for his opinions and advice, and is overall more trusting of his judgement than he might otherwise be.
Dick and Wally certainly empathize with each other a good deal, particularly when Wally is working regularly with Bruce as part of the Justice League. Like. I think they're aware that they have things in common, but it's an unspoken kind of understanding for the most part. I will say I think Wally actually knows more about Dick than Dick does about Wally, because if you pay attention to their dialogue Wally tends to be quite good at keeping Dick talking by continually asking him questions without volunteering much or anything about himself in return. Like I've said before Wally is the more secretive of the two of them.
Being similar also has at least as many downsides as upsides imo; they're both stubborn, manipulative, snide, passive aggressive, etc etc, and on top of that don't exactly like any of those things about themselves and so don't enjoy having a mirror of those qualities held up.

found this slightly interesting. also reminds me of how wally got his revenue from flash merchandise in waid's run. thinking that the only reason he was able to do that was because he had an open identity and could also be a in-universe explanation as to why he struggled with money after spectre erased his real name from public consciousness.
"time heals all wounds" WRONG. time is chasing me with a knife
Hii🙈🙈 do you perhaps have any bart and wally comic recs? I want to read more of them both but I can't find any reading orders or a jumping off point besides barts debut. Thank yew in advance💝
Here is a reading guide, I am doing this mostly by memory and looking at my own reading list/notes on their relationship, so I know I am not hitting every single comic they appear in together, but it's still pretty comprehensive imo. They start off VERY rocky, but once Bart becomes Kid Flash things between them are written less grating as they come to an understanding of each other and respect each other more.
Note: this is all pre-Flashpoint and these issues focus on their interactions/feelings between each other, a lot of it pretty caustic. Some issues might have only one panel, others many pages.

BART ALLEN READING ORDER
For those who, like me, when they like a character they need to read every single comic the character appears in, I have compiled a list of all of Bart Allen’s appearances from his debut up to the 2011 Flashpoint reboot (he was not a part of New 52 continuity).
And there’s also the extended list (including cameos) as a spreadsheet.
A Community List on League of Comic Geeks.
got bored and made a reading list for barry+wally comics. it's not every comic with them both, but it's pretty much everything i consider worth checking out and reading for their relationship.

Duke Thomas Starter Pack
Do YOU want to get into the character of all time, Duke Thomas? Are you not sure where to start? Here's a variety of resources to learn more about him! Comic and non-comic resources included :).
Basic Information
Here's a collection of Duke Thomas profiles for you to peruse! Check the reblogs for additional info.
Here's Duke Thomas' wiki page on DC fandom wiki.
Here's the Duke Thomas wiki, called the Hatch!
Reading Lists
@duketectivecomics has a great one here!
@searchforahero has a bunch of Duke resources, including a website list and a spreadsheet, here!
@haithhegimp has a colour-coded spreadsheet of all Duke's appearance here!
@s-darling-art has a nice streamlined list of important Duke comics here + a good Elseworlds list (and bonus Jace Fox list)!
If you want to follow Duke's story in-universe chronologically, check out DCU chronology guide!
Backstory
Duke's backstory is contained within Batman (2011), in the arcs Zero Year (where Duke and Bruce first meet) and Endgame (where Duke's parents get Jokerized). Read Batman (2011) #21 - 40 for the full story. For just the Duke bits, read: #21, 30, 33, 35, 37, 38, 39.
Starter Comic
If the reading lists look a little daunting, a good place to start would be the 12-issue comic series We Are Robin. The first six issues are relatively self-contained and a great introduction to Duke and his friends!
Further Reading
Read some Duke Thomas meta that I personally enjoy!
@himejoshiangels has a wonderful wonderful fic rec list for Duke-centric works!
Some Duke Thomas-related interviews excerpts I find interesting!
Amazing and comprehensive Duke writing advice from @inkpotsprite!
If you don't know where to read comics, consider searching 'read comics online' in Google... or check out this thread from r/Piracy.
Not reading but you can check out the adorable kid's show Batwheels for some Cass!Batgirl and Dukebin goodness.
Once the Batwheels generation grows up Duke will be everywhere so hop on the train early and join Duke nation 🥰🥰🥰
this is already fascinating but i am admittedly already fixated on the "keene act of 1961" and "ingersoll amendment of 1972" even when i know damn well they're never going to be mentioned again. amendment to what exactly...? presumably there's agency involvement in the entire affair. can i have the case law on the keene act please.
Argus #5 (1995) confirms that Bivens actions still exist but spells it "Bivins"

It's a little wild to me how often when asked who his best friend from the Titans is Wally will say Dick when... honestly... Roy is the one who's really been there for him most and longest.
Sorry for necro-ing but this question has been haunting me for the last two days, because I was sure that there was something pre-YJTV about them being best friends, and I finally found it:
Titans #2 (1999)
Wally also spent a lot of time pulling Dick into the the Titans reforming (again) in the initial issue of this run. It's framed as "you need this team, Dick, and it's my mission to make sure you don't turn into Batman", but this is also during the time period where Linda was erased from the timeline and Wally was sad and lonely and didn't know why, so I think we can assume that this is him lying. As usual. (In the same issue, Roy also refers to Wally as "[Donna's] platonic best male friend," so it's possible the writer just decided Wally West is best friend-shaped, but Wally and Dick do have a lot of general best friend-ish moments in this Titans run.)
Just Bart Allen things.
Being ridiculed for doing things every other speedster has done before him, but because HE does it, it's inherently wrong.

currently reading the courtroom arc of The Flash (1959) and i haven't finished it yet but im dying to know what you think of the part where Wally testifies against Barry bc i have So Many thoughts about it- specifically Barry's reaction. i have a sneaking suspicion that had it been the other way around, Barry would've felt little remorse about just straight up lying in Wally's defense if necessary.
i think that one of the cruxes of their unclenephewism is that, as a child and even into his adulthood, wally relies on barry as a template to base his own morals around, to the point where he more or less conflates the two in his mind. barry is the ideal, and he wants to live up to the standards of this idealized barry, even when it means he has to 'betray' the actual barry to do so. on the other hand, barry considers wally as a balm to his loneliness as a speedster out of time with the rest of society, and, in consequence, as someone who would always remain at barry's side. here's a direct quote from this same arc: “i still can’t believe it. i’m sitting here watching kid flash being sworn in as a witness for the prosecution. after all we’ve been through together over the years…how…how could wally testify against me—his uncle…his mentor…his most trusted confidant?”
like, i fully believe that had it been literally any other person on that stand, barry would've carried the hurt of such beyond his death and far into his resurrection because that man is so, so sensitive to perceived betrayals. (see, for example, #276 of his run where he disavows hal as his friend after the latter refused to let him resurrect iris with the green lantern ring). (and, not to mention his usual overblown reactions to the false impressions people have of him. for the most part they're negative, but he is noticeably bothered even by positive interpretations that don't coalign with his self-perception). but, since this is wally, and wally can do no wrong in the eyes of his uncle, barry's initial shock and pain at his testifying is quickly smothered and is instead something along the lines of: "he had to testify agaisnt me because it's the right thing to do!!! i have to pay to wally a visit later to reassure him i have no hard feelings over it!!!"
tldr; wally values barry's morals more than he does barry as a person, while barry values wally as a person more than he values his own morals. and so, had their positions been reversed and the flash was subpoenaed to testify in the murder trial of kid flash, i think that barry would've honestly claimed that no, wally had no other choice in that moment and that this is a clear and cut defense of others for the charge of manslaughter. because wally, unlike the deprectative image barry has of himself in this arc, is not and could never be a bad person, and bootlicker barry allen's opinions re: incarceration are so black-and-white (in other words, convicted prisoners are all evil and irredeemable) that there's too much of a cognitive dissonance between these two ideas for barry's morals to abide with. obviously wally had no other choice. he's not a bad person! barry's not committing perjury, that's his honest professional opinion!
here's another post of mine that talks a bit about this same subject. also this one on my side-blog that complains about how geoff johns' interprets this arc.
