also extremely interesting to me how the people crashing out over Taylor making this announcement via the pod and it being casual instead of a glossy, sparkly, slick video are missing a crucial element i think. while I admit that kind of announcement video would be VERY cool, we are forgetting that this album is titled The LIFE of a Showgirl and not just The Showgirl. with this context (and the context of the playlist), I would assume that this album is going to have a lot of explorations into the IMPACTS of fame on a performer's real life and not just be the shiny new exciting performances themselves. what is it like to leave the show and go home and have to reckon with the fact that people who love the performance you don't actually know you? how does the heightened perception of your existence affect your daily life? how does people's understanding of who you are sometimes cross wires with the version of you that actually exists? can you ever stop entertaining? turn it off and sometimes do things just for you? how do you even do that? what is it like for the people who know you on both sides of the curtain? how does fame impact your relationships with them? announcing the album on the podcast is like a little peek into the window of that real life of the performer, because it's essentially a crossover point between her real life and the showgirl life. I think that's a perfect entryway into this album, personal choice to want to be public with Travis completely aside.
