I’m not usually interested in fighting games but the people who worked on the Avatar Legends fighting game are clearly fans who know their lore and have done their research… if you play as Kyoshi with Rangi as a support, she pulls Kyoshi into an almost-kiss and then makes her do a horse stance 😭❤️ This game literally has biblically accurate Rangshi
Realistically... I might play a fighting game for a few minutes before I get bored and run away. but also I might have to buy this game now.
"the only difference between a cult and a religion is the scale"
NO. NO IT ISN'T. THIS IS WHAT THE CULTS WANT YOU TO THINK IT IS NOT TRUE. THERE ARE RELIGIONS THAT ARE NOT CULTS AND CULTS THAT ARE NOT RELIGIOUS AND YOU MUST LEARN THE DIFFERENCE

Some of your LARP groups are more cult adjacent but you aren't ready to hear that yet...
Fanfiction asks! ^_^
I would love the answers to: 2, 15, 17 and 57
2. Where do you get your fic ideas?
My “holy trinity” is:
-Other media (fiction and non fiction)
-Real life experiences
-D&D Scenarios
The first two more so than the last one, my group’s D&D sessions get pretty absurd; but we have some really good one-liners that pop up from time to time.
Due to how boring my job used to be, I pretty much always had something playing on my phone. Podcast, tv show, audiobook, movie— I’m very much the kind of person who can’t simply “watch” things while idle so finally having repetitive tasks and silence to fill really gave me a push to explore different stories and better understand what was so great about the stories I’d consumed without idle tasks.
Real life stuff probably goes without saying, but Flint’s entire existence as a character was sparked by one dumb thing a guy said to me at an anime convention and the instant sass I instinctively clapped back with.
15. What’s your favorite time to write?
I’d love to say 3AM because I’ve been known to wake up scribble out a banger of a line and go back to sleep — buuut I’m such a day walker and have to weave in writing time with life so the real answer is probably “whenever I get the chance”. I get lucky sometimes, and the stuff my cowriter and I are editing doesn’t need a lot of work— and then the majority of the time it’s scrawling madness that we have to spin into something that makes sense.
17. Do you have a writing routine?
I don’t have much of one and really need to establish one.
I do at least, try to make sure we’re putting out an update of some kind each month because I work better with deadlines.
57. How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics?
I try to work with the symbolism and foreshadowing that accidentally exists and underline that. There are so many ostrich-horse parallels in Secrets, and I don’t think any of them came to life inorganically.
My cowriter and I wanted to subvert expectations and have the charge being the one to teach the bodyguard a skill— then I was like “okay but actually Vanda is a horse-girl!” And everything that happened after that was coincidental.

The Kyoshi books are the most read books of the avatar, the most talked about, the first ones and the most bought ones, the writers were afraid of making them. those books brought life to the fandom again but when I look how people talk about kyoshi on other platforms I just sighs and think of how much this fanbase is missing out.
90% of the avatar fanbase only knows kyoshi from those few seconds on the shows.... that's sad

The body is willing but the mind is hostile
scariest thing is when you're a kid in a huge family run by women and then you go over to a house that's deeply patriarchal & misogynistic. i remember when i was 8 years old and i got invited over to my friend's house for a big birthday party with her entire extended family. after the enormous lunch that served over 30 people, i got called into the kitchen to do literally hundreds of dishes, alongside all the other little girls and women. not only were the boys our age all excused from the meal to go play, but all the grown men went to the living room to watch sports together and drink. i couldn't believe it. i asked why some of the grownups were watching TV but the girls had to clean up and all the women just laughed and laughed at me.
as a teenager when i learned the word "sexist" and used it the older women balked at it and tried to convince me this arrangement was a good thing actually because women need space from men, and cleaning in the kitchen after parties is a sacred domain of safety. and i was like actually i think needing private safety from your own husbands, sons, and brothers sounds even worse. like do you understand you somehow made this even more troubling than it already was
like i think it's fine if a bunch of sister-in-laws/wives want time together without their husbands & brothers to talk together in camaraderie. i'm not judging that. obviously. but dare i ask why the women's meetup could only take place while doing manual labor for a nearby room full of men
it's also interesting how this ingrained rigid social structures in children bc i was mostly friends with boys at that age and in fact was at the birthday party of a friend who was a boy so i remember complaining to him at school that it was weird all the girls had to help clean up because i didn't know any of the other little girls so i felt really left out that i didn't get to hang out with my own friends for a chunk of the party and he and the other little boys were like "that's just the rules."
yeah growing up in the Appalachian bible belt I absolutely often saw this re-enforced by women.
My mom used to say "he's a boy they don't know how to clean" but then she'd also get mad when my brother wouldn't/couldn't clean. Weird ass Southern Woman stuff right there.
this sucks im going to kill (remembers suicide jokes are bad for my mental health) the president of the United States. (end statement)

I will chew on what I have bit off even if it is just a little too large right now.
I will make it fit.
Sunday: I burn my thumb with a hot coal because I touched it... It does not hurt, I do zero aftercare and move on with my life. Today: tiny bit of grease pops at my thumb. It hurts, I do all the aftercare ... ahhhh
