Don’t worry guys.
The art book just isn’t really made by anyone who has much to do with the artistic process.
The thing made to show off the process…

Avatar Aang The Last Airbender
Some of the greatest art I've seen in my life is great partly by accident. Some people might argue that this means the creative powers behind it lack talent, got lucky or even built their art on the back of someone else. Artists themselves will go so far as to push the idea of "Oh actually I planned that the entire time", in spite of a mountain of evidence to the contrary (I'm looking at you J.K. Rowling). Productions that need multiple gears turning to exist are going to be a collection of talents, and the general public is only going to remember or know so many names.
In 2003, Norm Hiscock won an Annie Award for writing the King of The Hill episode, Bobby Goes Nuts. I'm sure someone who is even more into King of the Hill than I am, might be able to draw a direct line of connection from this single line becoming a meme and keeping the series in people's minds to the series having a reboot that's been amazingly successful. But my point is, when King of the Hill's success and reboot success come up in any conversation and most press, it is Mike Judge who gets the lion's share of credit. And this isn't because Mike Judge is some egomaniac, as far as I know he's not. Norm Hiscock still writes for King of The Hill in fact-- it's just sort of how credit on a mass scale works. The same can be said for the success of ATLA and how many people were turning gears in just the right way-- but Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are the top two in everyone's minds with Aaron Ehasz coming in just behind them. Even if you could actually bend lightning, I bet it would still be hard to catch it in a bottle; and I've said before that so much of what made ATLA special was that the team caught lightning in a bottle. Having this belief is why I didn't go into watching The Legend of Aang expecting something that made me feel the way ATLA did and still does.
The soundtrack is on Spotify so that's nice.
No. I do not like the idea of "Avatarian" as a language.
Had my husband set up a screen saver for the tv
5 things your character can't do while speaking
Choke. Just think about it, seriously. Think about what choking is and imagine speaking while it’s happening. That would fuckin’ hurt, man.
Hiss. Look, it’s just not possible, okay? No matter how “evil” you want your character to seem.
Snarl. Animals snarls. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast snarls. The Hulk snarls. You know who doesn’t snarl? PEOPLE WHEN THEY’RE SPEAKING.
Shriek. Come on, 99% of the time, “shriek” is not the word you want.Let’s face it: if you put an exclamation point at the end of the sentence, your reader gets the picture. Don’t bring to mind banshees and screaming toddlers.
Sneer. I’m not even going to bother explaining this one. “SNEER” ISN’T EVEN A SOUND.
Choked is not meant to be taken literally, an obstruction in the throat. It means they’re having difficultly speaking, they’re forcing the words out with difficulty. Often used when the character is convulsed in tears or laughter.
Hiss is a low, threatening whisper. Raw, guttural, vicious. It is NOT a literal hiss like an animal, it is a tone of voice that serves the same function. Someone will hiss that they’re going to cut your throat- a message from one person to the other.
Snarl is the same kind of thing. Not literal, it’s a tone of voice that serves the same function. It’s raw and gutteral like a hiss, but more savage than vicious. It’s loud, it’s showy, it’s intimidating. It’s very alpha male, big man, look at how fucking dangerous I am. I’ll take ALL of you on. Even if they’re snarling at one person in particular, nobody better back them up or they’re gonna get fucked up too.
Shriek. Come on, seriously? We’ve all heard people shriek either in fear or outrage. High pitched, loud, out of control, feminine. Men can shriek, but it’s funny and emasculating. Think angry italian women throwing pots and pans or ladies on tables who just saw a mouse.
Sneering is contempt whether it’s a facial expression or a tone of voice or both. There are a hundred different ways to sneer with your voice, but it all adds up to the same thing.
How descriptive words work 101
Op radiating cinema sins energy with that list lol
OP tagging this as “reasons they stop reading a book in ch 1” yet not grasping like the most basic form of figurative language is… something

My company was bought and the new company decided my position shouldn't exist. which seems sus since the other inventory person was kept. this is what I get for not sleeping at my desk.
Honestly, I need the ATLA fandom to stop pretending they would have engaged with an entirety different story if the live action budget had been put in that direction.
You guys have spent 20 years on the same ship war and slept on the novels.
There’s more money in rage baiting the fandom, than making content the fandom will like and the suits figured that out years ago.
husband put one of the blue tablets in the toilet tank and now every time I pee it looks like the reflecting pool.
Okay so kicking of NATLA reactions. The telling not matching the showing. The time skip was necessary and unavoidable and with kids having growth spurts it DEFINETLY needed to be mentioned. It's the koalaphant in the room. Well and good, there is a place for telling and the way it was brought up was cute.
My problem lies with everything we we're shown contradicting the amount of time that was skipped. Aang has been learning waterbending for a while. Katara shouldn't need to manually adjust his stance. ESPECIALLY when a chunk of the season is trying to convince me that he's having a hard time with earthbending-- yet overall it's clear he picked up on it MUCH faster than two years. They could have had Katara nag him a little or instead of him learning to heal being one scene make that a bigger plot point, spread out the attempts. Healing is a cool idea for him as a character. Maybe have Katara go to stop him from healing the serpent or be like "woah you're gonna do it wrong and make it worse" or even "wait we gotta make sure it doesn't wake up if we're going to do this." SOMETHING -- these are all quick ideas but at least they're SOMETHING. I could see Zuko spending a few months before getting restless about the fieldwork and running off. With the way his dialogue is setup and Iroh explaining to him why they're there over and over again it feels more like two months no matter how much they try to verbally convince me it's been longer. Why not just start the season with Zuko on his own and imply he was own his own for longer? His desperation would sink in better and he could be shown looking for the Avatar since we're supposed to believe he hasn't let this go. You could have Iroh trying to track him down. Even the interpersonal conflicts between the Gaang don't seem like the sort of conflicts that would happen if all but one of them had been around one another for years. The fix isn't even complicated, make the issue not be trust but be "hey being in the city is changing you"
I have NATLA opinions I think but I'm tired and my dance card is full. And none of those opinions have formed into something tangible yet.

I keep saying I’m staying at this job because the time off is unmatchable on a local level but at this point every three day weekend just turns into a void of waiting until Monday because nobody wants to do anything
My Casey Jones design for my current TMNT AU project. Wanted to capture that raw 90s New York vibe for him.
