Paint the Seconds

After the 12.18 Chevelle concert I had a blast hanging out with some Chevellions. When we got back to our hotel we saw Pete sitting with a group of people in the bar. The four of us stood around the corner by the elevators trying to decide whether we should go say 'hi' and get some pictures. We deliberated for at least half an hour, but ultimately chickened out. We got in an elevator and ascended to our respective floors.

When I got to my room I tossed the contents of my pockets on the dresser beside the journal I had bought at Chevevlle's merch booth. I'm a notebook addict and it had been an impulsive purchase. I felt a twinge of buyer's remorse at having paid $25 for a small journal that I didn't need. I consoled myself with the thought that maybe someday I could get the guys to sign it, making it $25 well spent. Standing there in my room, looking at the journal, it occurred to me that I could get an immediate return on my purchase if I was just brave enough to go to the bar. I picked up the journal and headed for the eleveator fully anticipating that I would get to the ground floor, turn around, and go back to my room.

But I didn't.

I shyly walked up near the table where Pete sat not sure what the hell to do with myself. A crew member saw me and said, "Hey, what's up?" I held up my journal and told him that I'd love it if Pete would sign it. He told me that of course he would sign it, took it from me, and handed it to Pete. Pete turned around and we chatted for a moment. He was so super cool. When he started to sign the journal, he paused. "I'm not going to sign this from the band. I'm going to sign this from me." He closed the journal, pointed to the graphic of himself on the cover, and said,"'Cause that's me."

"That's perfect," I told him. Because that's freaking hilarious.

So that's how I got my journal signed by Pete, but not from the band, 'cause that's him on the cover. I just wish I wouldn't have been so scared when I was with everyone else because I feel really bad that @chevelleonline missed it. And I’m a bad parent because even my daughter wasn't with me =(
