forgot if I've really given a summary of my drunkendemon lore actually
louis and prometheus grew up together in a very abusive christian community. they both ended up being transgender [louis is a trans man and prometheus is genderfluid, though when he was younger she identified as a trans man] which meant they only really had each other to understand how they felt
they ran away together once they became adults and cut contact with their families. this led to them being further isolated from other people, as it was hard for either of them to connect with people in their new city.
they started frequenting bars and parties in an effort to meet more people, becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs along the way. this not only put more strain their relationship but also cost them money, forcing them to sell many of their belongings and live in worse conditions.
being so isolated from other people made it hard for them to accept that they had different views of what they wanted in the future, as they feared being alone. prometheus wanted a home surrounded by people he loved with less turbulence and more trust and warmth. louis, however, was happiest in the excitement of the city where things never became too predictable and boring.
in somewhat of an effort to save the relationship, louis proposed to prometheus. after several years, though, neither of them had really made an effort to actually plan a wedding.
louis slowly became more ignorant of prometheus's needs as it slipped further into drug use. prometheus began to act petty towards louis out of spite, but it was hard for louis to even notice the change in behavior when he was high and/or drunk all the time [this also enabled prometheus's own addictions].
the situation reached its climax when prometheus "accidentally" threw away some of the drugs louis was on. louis [high and drunk and not thinking clearly] got angry and tried to physically hurt prometheus, who retaliated in fear by smashing a glass bottle against louis' head [prometheus's parents had been physically abusive, so this was a trauma response to protect himself].
physical abuse was the final straw for prometheus. while louis was still passed out from the injury, she packed her stuff and left.
they never talked after that, but when prometheus killed himself several years later louis was called to identify the body [im unfortunately not entirely sure how that process works irl as it's hard to find resources on it but for the sake of simplicity and drama ummm we're gonna pretend this makes sense]
seeing prometheus dead was kind of a wake up call to louis. it started going to rehab and trying to improve his behavior so it wouldn't hurt anyone in that way again. he also started volunteering with its community a lot and was able to make the outside connections it lacked while in the relationship
after dying, prometheus and the other power hours all realized they wanted a second chance so they begged a demon to let them live again [encore lore]. prometheus, with the help of the other power hours and the new friends she met through them, was eventually able to build himself the life he always wanted
