Hey guys, unfortunately my YouTube account was hacked recently and I’ve completely lost access to the email associated to it. They kicked me out and changed all the log in credentials from my password, passkeys, recovery email and phone number, to even the recovery codes.

I’ve gotten in touch with Team YouTube and filled out a couple forms to recover my account, but I was made aware that the hacker went live on my channel overnight (in my timezone) to talk about some bitcoin grift. The community mass reported the live and got it taken down, but my channel was also taken down as a result.

The YouTube team told me that they had to disable my account to protect it from further tampering, so I hope this was just a result of that and that I will hopefully get my account and channel back soon.

Fearmongering bullshit, but it's fearmongering bullshit that seems to be taking advantage of the recent spotlight series in order to trick authors into deleting their fics.

Just. Why.

Just to clarify, "non-fan works" were always against policy, this is not new, and it does not mean original work.

The definition of "fan work" on AO3 is intentionally broad, and covers original fiction. "Non-fan works" are content that is non-creative in nature: fic recs, rp-partner searches, announcements, prompts, etc, basically using it like a blog.
