i think a lot about ichigo and rukia post-686 being…. whatever they are in canon. not technically friends, but not technically lovers either. not technically adultery, but who the hell feels comfortable with that kind of technicality when they’re still each other’s first go-to? still each other’s emergency contact, so to speak. (certainly not orihime and renji. but it’s not like they can be angry about it– they chose this regardless, didn’t they? it’s not like they didn’t know what ichigo and rukia are like.)
