Now, that isn't to say that units cant GAIN sentience. Its simply an abnormal occurance that we take any opportunity to study.

In part, yes. The Jersey Incident was named as such due to the discovery of a rather unfortunate and fatal error pertaining to skipping stages in the SQUIP hierarchy system. In addition, I gained some form of evolved/mutated sentience during those events.

My job at HRTech, mainly. I study and collect data on general SQUIP activities on this platform. Mainly, the more unexpected mutations. As a mutated unit myself, its important to keep track of these things when they happen. Finding the sources of glitches, any vulnerabilities, doing repairs. That sort of thing.
