Antibodies mistakenly attacking the brain are linked with conditions including schizophrenia, dementia and OCD, prompting a revolution in ho
it may interest some of you to know that there is likely an autoimmune/inflammation component of many mental illnesses that we do not fully understand yet. the immune system and the nervous system are very connected both to each other and to all our other systems in ways that, again, we do not fully understand
reminder that psychology is both a very new and also a very SOFT science. if someone in psych is confidently positing that science understands the way the brain functions and malfunctions, they don't know enough to know how little they know. we do NOT understand the brain like we act like we do.
Some psychiatric patients may actually have treatable autoimmune conditions. But what happens to the newly sane?
An additional article about this subject that also goes into life after experiencing these kinds of mental illnesses and its effects on the family.
Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is an immune disease with an estimated prevalence of 17%. Mast cell chemical mediators lead to heteroge
"Daily hydroxyzine at a dose of 25 mg was initiated and increased to twice a day, along with 10 mg cetirizine daily. The patient reported significant improvement and near complete resolution of both her phobia of blood and obsessiveβcompulsive thoughts and rituals."
These findings raise the tentative but exciting possibility that doxycycline treatment may reduce schizophrenia risk in adolescent psychiatr
at this point, if i were a practicing physician or psychiatrist, i would give every patient that reported idiopathic and treatment resistant syndromes of this type a modestly-dosed magnesium pill, a vitamin c pill, famotidine and ceterizine for a month before trying anything else. i am going to say with confidence we will see a big swing back towards "actual real physical etiologies have been abandoned in favor of a purely psychological-traumagenic and individualist theory of mental illness and its treatment and this was a mistake".
obviously mental illness is real and exists, and it often responds to psychoactive medication, im not debating that. im saying there are also a lot of diagnosed-crazy people (not everyone!) including myself who are walking around with mast cell disorders, collagen disorders, occult infections and basic vitamin deficiencies which are, if not entirely responsible for the mood/personality/cognitive disorder, making things a lot worse.

...I was just diagnosed with an ultra crazy rare form of cancer called pseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma. Next step is an oncology referral.

i have so much respect for people who have had an entire tooth or teeth extracted because...oh my god, i couldn't handle a couple of roots. i squeaked. the injections themselves were painful and couldn't completely numb everything even after the extra waiting time
i had a "sunken" baby tooth on the bottom until a couple years ago when it shattered, a premolar barely above the gumline, but i was too nervous to do anything about it. i had no pain, just occasional irritation around it. was it a huge risk that may or may not have indirectly contributed to my ongoing lymph node issue even though it was on the opposite side? yeah lol
so a few days ago, i had two nearby fillings and the two remaining roots removed (and it was a difficult/prolonged extraction because their tools couldn't grab anything at first), so i am still in a crazy amount of pain and i'm terrified of dry socket AND i already have TMJ AND i have to sleep with a mouthguard at night that presses directly on the injection site and my fillings lmaoooo
i thought i did have dry socket until i figured out that i need to be taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen AT THE SAME TIME for pain relief (genuine dry socket doesn't seem to respond to anything because it's exposed bone/nerve/etc). ibuprofen usually irritates my stomach even with food, but dental pain is worse, so i gave in. had kind of a cold throbbing ache that would bounce between the socket, my upper teeth, my cheek and down my throat

ok astrology IS fake but there is something going on with the end-of-april-beginning-of-may birthday nexus. i dont have any more information than this
i have a pet theory that Taurus birthday people hate astrology more than any other birthsign due to Taurus being consistently labeled as boring, reliable, grounded, normie, etc, which if true would be a really interesting real world example of your birthsign determining not only a personality trait (hating astrology) but explicitly a personality trait that both is (being grounded and practical) and is not (being irritable and aggressive) reifying the stereotype OF that birthsign. I intend to run a "what sign are you and do you believe in astrology" poll on here when i have the right hair up my ass about it
anyway for whatever reason many of my closest friends and the people i immediately "get" even if they arent close to me personally are in the April/May transition birthday area. also Karl Marx was born on May 5th lmao
i havent looked this up but there are statistically anomalous birthday clusters for various reasons, could be that early May is one of them
