I'm gonna post some of my Danny phantom headcanons under the cut, because it's gonna be looooong I think, read through if you'd really like to see how my brain works on this.
Ghost cores and corespeak
Now, we all know cores, they're the physical manifestation of the soul, the everything to a ghost. Here's a few new things I have thoughts on:
Cores become denser the older a ghost was before formation, thicker layers to represent a more clear cut sense of self, while younger ghosts are more fluid and easily change their shape after formation. Of course there is a drop off point, after a certain Living age, the sense of self dulls and loses definition, leading to these ghosts being more like looking through cloudy glass, that's the best way to describe it.
Corespeak is all emotions, thoughts, feelings, and concepts, and the actual sounds are tied into how a ghost, were they originally of the Living, died. It is, of course, incredibly taboo to point sounds out that you can recognize when they are tied to said ghosts death, you simply do not hear them, you do not recognize the sounds of Death. A Neverborn or Spirit are different in their corespeak, these sounds are tied into their nature as a Being of ye Infinite Realms, the element their core has taken on, or their place in the overarching monarchy of the Infinite Realms.
Now, of course there are elemental cores, but there are also conceptual cores, for beings such as Clockwork, Nocturn, and Undergrowth, Time, Sleep, and Nature respectively, although an argument can be made for Undergrowth to have a Life core instead, I do take suggestions and criticism, debating is an excellent way to grow your thoughts.
Auras
Now, we've seen the glow a ghost has, this can be a way to judge overall health at a glance, the stronger a ghost is, the brighter and steadier the glow. When a ghost begins to feel weak, their glow will dim, when they feel sick their glow with waver, when both are happening it is time to take them to a medical facility, of which there are many should you know where to go.
Bonds
Ghosts bond through friendly fighting, verbal altercations, and mutual aid to said ghosts haunts. These bonds can range anywhere from friendship to romantic to even parental, depending on the type of aid, level of combat, verbal wit being displayed, or some combination of the three.
Haunts
Haunts are a ghosts home, or claimed area of the Living realm or the Infinite Realms. To trespass into a haunt is frowned upon, but as long as a proper apology is delivered the slight will be forgotten. Examples of proper apology gifts are: Obsession fulfillment, food, drink, or assistance with a problem in the haunt.
Here's more of my headcanons, I didn't want to just edit the original.
The Infinite Realms
The space between dimensions, where time doesn't exactly flow the same, where natural rips in the fabric of space-time happen at semi-regular intervals and can drop you any where, any when, and in any dimension. The Realms are semi-sentient, able to make changes to the Realms through the Crown and Ring and the one who is hosting the relics.
The Crown and Ring
These relics are what give the Infinite Realms their conduit, they are what chooses the next ruler of the Realms, the next hand and mouthpiece of their creator. Without these objects, the Realms would fall apart, unable to have the Core of the Realms dictate what to do, how to form, what to form, and when to form. Without the Ruler, be they King or Queen, the Realms would fall apart and take the whole of existence with it.
Deathdays
These are wildly important to a Dead, this is when one is the most vulnerable but also the most dangerous, their powers peak at the moment of their death echo, wherein their core relives the moment of its formation. This is a very painful process, as the Dead is forced to relive every moment of their Death, however it is muted by their status and shielding of their Core so as to not End them again. In some cases, the effect is visible to onlookers, however these are exceedingly rare, and only happen to highly trusted individuals or those who catch a newly Dead who hasn't realized what is happening.
And more headcanons I want to share
Ectoplasm
There are several types of ectoplasm; unbonded, bonded, elemental, pure, and diluted. Pure ectoplasm is what can be found in the Infinite Realms, diluted ectoplasm is found in the Living Realm, elemental ectoplasm is found in the forms of beings that have elemental cores, bonded ectoplasm is what can be found on the bodies of non-elemental cored ghosts, and unbonded ectoplasm is any free floating ectoplasm that has not formed into a core, or the body of a being of the Infinite Realms.
Ancients
There are beings in the Infinite Realms classed as Ancients, these beings are far more powerful than other beings, and despite the name not all of them are ancient beings. Several examples of such classes of being are Clockwork, the Ancient of Time, Frostbite the Ancient of Health, and Pandora the Ancient of Combat, while an example of a young Ancient would be the being known as Phantom, the Ancient of Balance and Space, an exceedingly rare Dual Class of Ancient.
A few more! I love putting these out there for everyone to see.
The Crown and Ring of the Infinite Realms change depending on the current King or Queen of the Realms, Danny has the Crown of Void and Ring of Fear. The Crown resembles a solid piece of black iron until active, whereupon it takes on the form of a nebula suspended between the points. The Ring has changed drastically, the band becoming the color of freshly fallen snow, and the gemstone becoming that of an arctic glacier.
The Crown and Ring function as secondary and tertiary filters for the Realms own Core, with the King or Queens core acting as the primary.
It takes quite some time for the new King or Queen to become accustomed to the full regalia of their station, of which there are four pieces, the Crown, the Ring, the Cloak, and the Armor.
The Cloak and Armor also change based upon the current Monarch of the Realms.
Yet another small headcanon collection!
Danny, Sam, and Tucker are immortal after Danny's Accident, all that energy being released straight from the Infinite Realms didn't only effect Danny, the portal was shaped partially like a funnel after all, or if you invert a funnel you get a horn. All of that energy was blasted out into the room, but Danny got the most concentrated blast, being inside the thing.
Sam and Tucker have their own powers, they just come in later and much slower, to the point that they don't even realize they have any powers until it's pointed out. They aren't halfas though, just extremely liminal, maybe just on the living side by a few percentage points, but enough to matter. They all have glowing eyes once their powers come in.
Mr. Lancer is the first adult to find out about The Trio's situation, either through dumb luck and seeing Danny transform like Jazz, being told directly, or just figuring it out based on coincidences that keep happening. He is incredibly supportive.
More to the pile!!
The Ghost Portal is, essentially, Danny's Grave, which is highly important to a Ghost. He's fiercely protective of it as evident by how much he fights back the other Ghosts that come through, they're basically flying through his tomb.
Danny is stupid light, even in human form, because literally half of his entire makeup isn't human anymore, he's the perfect balance between energy and matter.
The Portal is mildly radioactive, which is why the Fenton Lab is covered in metal paneling, those are lead panels to keep it from leaking into the house or ground.
Ectoplasm is a fantastic cleaning supply, as long as you're cleaning things that will not come in contact with food, because then it becomes a fantastic reanimation supply.
The Fenton's are banned from filing taxes by the IRS, the paperwork just isn't worth it, so they are the only "civilian" family completely tax exempt.
The Fenton's never really have to work again, the entire town of Amity never has to worry about power issues either, because the Ghost Portal is tied into the power grid and supplying the next three towns near Amity with enough power that it's actually a positive supply to the grid.
The Portal can't be shut off unless Danny does it personally, it's a self sustaining system, it needs the sacrifice that began it's life in order to cease it's function properly.
Even more!!! I have so many thoughts as you can clearly tell, this show is my special interest
Ectoplasm is a *fantastically* clean energy source, as in it is so clean there is *negative* radiation in the area around the plants that use it as the power source. It literally works so cleanly that it takes away even the background radiation, for a short time while it's actively being used.
Ectoplasm is fairly unstable, but not volatile thankfully. If it destabilizes? It just vanishes and you have to get a new supply, no Chernobyl's with this.
Thanks to how clean the energy is, ecto-plants are typically set up near places that produce radiation in abundance, such as coal power plants (yes really), Chernobyl, other nuclear disaster sites, etc.
Ecto-plants are staffed almost exclusively by liminals or ghosts, to minimize the risk of creating new liminals or ghosts.
All of this is obviously after *extensive* testing is done, after the Ghost Investigation Ward, aka Guys In White, aka GIW are shut down and disbanded, and after the Anti-Ecto Acts are thrown out, so probably around one or two decades.
I just keep coming up with more!
Danny doesn't fly so much as have control over whether or not gravity is in effect for him and anyone/thing he's in contact with, as well as changing the way it effects. The real difference here is that others who do fly have to have propulsion first, whereas Danny is creating his own.
Danny is a massive power house, but he doesn't use all of it because of his Obsession with Protection, he has powers that would absolutely end fights in seconds, but they would cause a lot more damage which is why he usually goes in to fight hand hand.
Maddie absolutely trained Danny somewhat in self defense, and Jack helped train him in the engineering side of things.
Tucker and Sam both helped Danny train too, after the powers came in, and Danny helped them train after their own powers came in too, either by himself or with the help of someone from the Realms.
Another little set of headcanons, slowing down on these now
Danny is basically a walking power plant, thanks to his status as King and a halfa. Given the right connection, material, and treatment, he could power basically anything that can run on ectoplasm.
The thermos that holds Dan is in a constant state of damage and rewinding, Clockwork keeping a very close eye on it until the right time comes along for him to be released.
Pariahs Keep, now Danny's, migrates from wherever it is in the Infinite Realms to be much closer to the Portal, as well as changing it's theme to match the new King.
Some more, I think these might be the last
Danny has nerve damage in his left arm, he can only really feel pressure in the palm, it gets slightly better up towards his shoulder.
Danny has electrical burn scars on his arm that go all the way to the bone but don't do anything that actually damage it, due to being partly ectoplasmic energy as well.
Dash and the other bullies don't know how serious the accident was, only that Danny wasn't seen in town for a couple days after it's said to have happened.
Danny can choose to change his outfit as Phantom whenever he wants, it just takes a bit of energy which is why he doesn't.
His left eye was nearly ruined by both the normal electricity and ecto energy, but thankfully his healing kicked in and fixed it, though there's a color difference when you look closely.
