Having a scar on your head is cool, I just wish there was another way you could've gotten it.

Worthwhile read for anyone investigating new cancer treatments. Very into this in case my neuronal neoplasm cranks back up.
A Girl Has No Name (for the Annoying Thing That Is Currently Plaguing Her)
Topline questions first, story later: Who do you recommend for allergy testing? Which home test kit or testing services do you recommend? How do you get cooties off of your clothes and out of the air? Why does my immune system blow?
A lot of people ask me how my brain is doing. Mostly good? I’ve been able to manage most of the little annoying things that keep me from normal human life. I still enjoy cosplaying as one of them normal people with no neurological or immune issues! Funfortunately, this is an update of what happens when things go wrong.
We've been looking to move out of our condo into a bigger space for a few months now. We found an adorable house in East Atlanta that was so much more awesome than anything we thought we could find. I felt a little sick during my initial visit to the house but thought maybe it was a residual sinus infection. NBD.
We went over our comfortable budget to try and get the house. We wrote a letter with our offer explaining how much we loved it and what it meant to us. We were able to go under contract and shared our excitement with family and friends. On Friday, we had our inspection—a tricky step for us since an inspection in April made us realize we didn't want to go through with a previous house in East Lake we'd courted. As soon as I entered the adorably perfect East Atlanta house, I felt sick. I felt WORSE than I did last time I went in the house. I headed upstairs to join our inspector who hadn't really found anything too off about the place. That's when the back of my throat burned, the side of my neck throbbed, the right side of my face palsied, and my f&$@ing aphasia came back. I did what I sometimes do during aphasia fits--I pointed to my mouth to let Chris know I couldn't talk so he could explain to our inspector what was going on. I burst into tears. Embarrassment and frustration took over. I tried sitting in different rooms of the house to see if I felt better. No dice. I had to say goodbye to OurFavoriteHouseOftheCentury. I had to leave.
I've cried my eyes out over losing the house to my pissy immune system.
Speaking of my pissy immune system, the reason I'm so strict about what I eat these days is so I don't get aphasia fits or "robot talk.” I’ve deduced that it’s part of an immune reaction: different foods cause different issues, like migraines, grandpa brain, tummy troubles, hormonal house parties, weirdo neck throbs, stiff joints, puffy fingers, and the worst...robot talk. My really cute food sensitivity list has been a pain in the ass but has really helped with all of these...and now my environment is joining in on the fun?!? No no it’s ok I love being an anomaly.
Back to the house…as a last ditch effort, we brought our giant air purifier over to see if it would help. No dice x 2. When we retrieved it and ran it back at the condo, it barfed up whatever made me sick at the potential new house.
Now my bedroom makes me sick. Some of my clothes and stuff that was in the bedroom and closet makes me sick. I don't want to set everything on fire just yet soooo:
Who do you recommend for allergy testing? Which home test kit or testing services do you recommend? How do you get cooties off of your clothes and out of the air? Why does my immune system blow?
I often wonder if my time in the hospital or on anti-seizures or under anesthesia made some of this worse.
As far as direct brain issue updates, I recently pieced together that the tumor/scar tissue damage near my hypothalamus has affected my heat tolerance and need for water. I plan on getting these hormones tested soon since that’s my cool hobby like wakeboarding or whatever. I still have muscle damage from my craniotomy that makes my jaw tight. I still can’t get hit in the head without feeling off for a week. On the plus side, head massages feel amazing.
Thankfully I'm traveling this week, but if you live in Kirkwood/Candler/Edgewood I may need to crash soon.
UNFORTUNATE BRAIN NEWS! #024 "2014 in review"
I made a video for you! Happy New Year!
On the two year anniversary of my Unfortunate Brain News, I walked around Asheville making music with my brain waves. Here I am thinking angry thoughts about the sun and getting rewarded with bass I guess. Two years down, still kickin, suck on an egg brain worm. #moogfest #conductar #unfortunatebrainnews

MRI selferton from 20140109. Three month brain tumor check up and XXL scrub modeling. #unfortunatebrainnews #mri
I attempted to do a step by step video of what it’s like to get an MRI. Hoping to edit it this weekend so I can have it up soon!
UNFORTUNATE BRAIN NEWS! #023 “dimly lit condominium”
Post from Saturday 10/26/13. Brief update for my last six months as a kid with brain tumor issues. Expect terrible jokes and even terrible-r voices!
A few things:
- My hair is now red.
- My three-month brain MRI got moved up to 10/10/2013 due to a head vs car door accident, but everything is ok! All craniotomy pieces are happy and still superglued in place!
- No scrubs during this visit. Emory's washing machine was haunted.
Stable-bration
It's #BrainTumorThursday y'alls! I'm elated to report that my last MRI came back stable. Back to the Kroger U-Scan in another 3 months to hopefully continue the trend.
As usual these past few months, forgive the brevity. Allow me to blab at you in a recorded fashion very, very soon.
Backwards scrubs. RIP Mac Daddy. #unfortunatebrainnews #MRI
Periodic MRI today. Kris Kross salute.

UNFORTUNATE BRAIN NEWS! #22 "ER-versary"
It's been one year since my trip to the Emergency Room slash brain tumor discovery. Hooray?
The audio on this is terrible. I'm sorry.
365 Days, so many numbers. Let's eat cake. Just kidding. Cake doesn't love me anymore. Curse you cake.
If you haven't read about Champa the bear yet, I suggest you do! This Asiatic Black bear is the first bear to ever undergo brain surgery y'all. Such a sweet picture.
This past Tuesday, I underwent nine hours of neuropsychological testing. I blargh about it soon!
UNFORTUNATE BRAIN NEWS! #021 "ten months"
YOU GUYS! I can't believe I haven't posted anything in over 4 months! I'll catch you up to speed on all sorts of things.
To sum it up, I'm doing really well but had some scares that just turned out to be scar tissue. PHEW! I'll tell you 'bout some symptoms at 10 months / surgery side effects at 7 months if you really want to hear them.
Also I make noises into a microphone for a while. Same as always!
Recorded Tuesday February 26, 2013 and Monday March 4, 2013
Six Months.
Hi everyone! Apologies for being a little silent on the video front, but I wanted to share that today is my six month craniotomy-versary.
Overall, I'm doing real-good like. I'll post a detailed update soon for those curious about what that means and the challenges from the last few months, but just here to say thank you for all of the love and support. Y'all are the rocks that make a mountain of win! Exploding high-fives all 'round.

20121126 : Follow up MRI at Emory for a suspicious brain news peninsula the MD Anderson radiology team found after our appointment on 11/07.
The good news
a) it’s hopefully scar tissue and
b) is this is all somehow getting easier to handle.
Case in point: getting shoved in a high grade magnetic hole with multiple failed pokes in my appendages was a walk in the park…compared to getting out of the shower and realizing one of the cats peed all over the bed.
UNFORTUNATE BRAIN NEWS! #20 "carpet bear pose" Hey guys. It's Dana. Just checking in after three months of surgery and six months of brain drama. I have a small bit of tumor left that I lovingly call cancer junior. Does anyone else have this? What are you doing to control it? What were you for Halloween? I don't talk about that in this episode but love Halloween costumes so fork em over!
