"Centuries of perfectly good eyesight, not any changes in vision at all," Light Milk, or...now Shadow Milk, sighed as he peered through a glass lens. "But one little surge of dark power, and suddenly...!"
"It could have been worse, though, couldn't it...?" you pointed out. He'd overcome the temptations all that power had presented him, thankfully...you were proud of him for doing so, and had told you as such.
He glanced at you and nodded, using magic to create a gold rim around the lens, setting it in front of his blue eye. Apparently his magic had surged through his other eye, making his eyesight there stronger...but otherwise unbalancing the strength of his vision. A bit of experimentation had showed that a new lens would help.
Still, he sighed as he set his new monocle in place and turned to you. "You're right, but this just...it makes me look old, doesn't it?" he said, brow furrowed.
You opened and closed your mouth a few times. He...he actually looked good like that...all he'd done was add a monocle...! You coughed, looking away as a blush rose on your cheeks. "No, no, you...you pull that off!" you quickly said, not quite looking at him.
He turned to you, raising a brow and adjusting his monocle slightly...and then, he seemed to realize something, a grin spreading across his face. "You like this, don't you?" he said, a teasing lilt to his voice.
"...maybe," you admitted.
"You should have told me...I would have worked out this solution faster!" he said with a laugh.
"I...didn't know until just now," you confessed.
He chuckled, setting his monocle back in place and grinning at you. "Well...that does actually make me feel better about this," he said. "Who would have thought I could get more handsome?" He grinned, sparkles appearing around him.
You laughed, shaking your head. "Shadow Milk...!"
"Oh, dear, are you too charmed to even respond?" he said, faking a shocked gasp. He stepped closer, wrapping an arm around you and pecking your cheek. "You're far too sweet sometimes, you know?"
I know there likely won't be an opportunity for this. But now I kinda want to see Y/N stuck on dreamscape with light of deceit and light of truth bickering. Light of deceit was trying their spiel again, light of truth notices and butt into the conversation. It devolves to the point where Y/N is confused as to why their are even there.
You found yourself standing in an elegant dining room, lit with torches holding blue flames. At the center of the room was a table covered with a black-and-blue tablecloth, a vase with blue roses, and covered dishes.
Sitting on the side opposite you was Shadow Milk, who raised one hand and beckoned you closer. You of course approached, a chair pulling itself out and allowing you to sit down, a wave of his hand pushing you back in.
"There you are!" he said, smiling brightly at you. "My favorite little marionette."
You glanced at your surroundings...you couldn't remember how you'd gotten here. You weren't sure what you'd been doing before this, too...though you thought you recalled getting ready for bed...
Oh! You were dreaming. And if you were dreaming, maybe that meant... "You're the Light of Deceit, aren't you?" you asked.
"Oooh, so sharp!" he said, beaming brightly at you...his eyes losing their pupils and glowing two different shades of blue. "Though I'd expect no less from my darling little star, of course!" He reached across the table, raising your hand to place a gentle kiss on your knuckles.
You cleared your throat, feeling a blush growing on your cheeks. A wide grin spread across his face in response. "Why...are you here?" you asked him.
"Can't I just take a moment to spend a little time with you alone?" he purred.
You narrowed your eyes slightly...from what you knew about it, it could be just as manipulative as Shadow Milk, every action having a purpose behind it. "Is that really all?"
It chuckled, lifting the cover from your plate to reveal one of your favorite meals. "Well...I will admit there are things I'd like to talk with you about," he confessed.
"Such as?"
"I was wondering if you've...thought about what I proposed last time we spoke," he said, almost casually. "About joining me."
"I..." You looked down, swallowing. You hadn't forgotten the conversation, but you hadn't really thought about it either. And now that you were thinking about it again...as much as you cared about Shadow Milk, you didn't want to cause chaos by spreading Deceit...not really.
"The world would be so, so beautiful with you joining us, you know," the Light of Deceit said softly, pouring a dark juice into your glass. "If you worked with us, everything could be a grand show! And we could shape the world into a stage that's just how you want it to be."
It leaned closer, eyes glowing brightly, reaching out to clasp your hands between its own. "So please...stay with us. Embrace Deceit, embrace me, and—
"Enough!" a voice said, a blue light glowing brightly above you both. The Light of Deceit hissed, squinting up at it, and you looked up to see a light in the shape of Pure Vanilla's Soul Jam.
"The path they walk must be their own," the Light of Truth said firmly. "You mustn't force them into actions they don't want."
The Light of Deceit seethed, grinding its fangs and pointing accusingly at them. "Silence! You have no right to speak to them...or to me! Not after your abandoned us!" it spat.
"I didn't abandon you," the Light of Truth said.
"Liar!"
The Light of Truth descended further, hovering just above the tabletop and glimmering in front of you. "Even if we are on separate paths now...we can still coexist," it insisted. "I'll always be here for you..."
"Oh, save us your platitudes!" the Light of Deceit snapped at it, taking a swipe at it. The Light of Truth floated closer to you, settling right above your own chest, much to the frustration of the Light of Deceit.
It growled, baring its fangs and glowering darkly at it...the dream warping and turning darker around it.
You cleared your throat, raising a hand almost sheepishly. "...am I...needed here?" you asked both of them. They seemed to be more focused on each other now, after all.
"Yes!" the Light of Deceit insisted.
"You can wake up if you'd prefer...or have a dream without us present," the Light of Truth offered.
"Don't you dare," the Light of Deceit growled at it. "After all the work I put into crafting this place for them, I won't let you throw it all away...!"
The Light of Truth glowed even more brightly...and you raised your hands, trying to stop both of them. "Wait!" you said. "Can't we all just...be here, without you two having to fight...?"
A pause. The Light of Truth glowed and filled you with warmth...it felt happy. "I would like that."
"Tsk." The Light of Deceit pouted. "...well, I suppose any moment I can share with you should be treasured...even if it involves being around a traitor..."
You gave it a warning look, and it smiled innocently at you. You weren't hungry, but you slowly nibbled at the meal he'd made for you... "It's delicious," you told it. "Thank you."
"...anything for you," it said softly. The Light of Truth glimmered in a way that seemed approving.
