Keep content intensity in line with canon. Gore, violence, supernatural spookiness, etc. is allowed in keeping with the game. NSFW is in the air right now depending on age ranges of contributors.

Multiple genres/media are welcome! The application has options for writing or artwork, but there's also an "Other" field for additional ones that aren't listed. This includes work like character analysis, recipes (maybe for tea?), etc. as long as generative AI isn't used (more details in the applicable rule further down).

Original player character content is permitted too. The game is structured for you to imagine a personality for the PC, so art, writing, etc. that features your original concept for the player character is welcome. It's encouraged to include other characters/concepts from the game to provide context for an unfamiliar OC, but that's all!

Portfolio examples don't have to be Scarlet Hollow. They don't have to be fandom works either, so original content is allowed for your portfolio. The limits in the application are guidelines, so feel free to share a little over if needed (i.e., a 2k portfolio story instead of the 1k approximate limit). I'm the only one going through submissions, so I just can't tackle longer/bigger pieces.

No endorsement of hate speech allowed. It's one thing if the hate speech is framed as negative or a character is processing internalized issues, but we're not perpetuating bigotry over here.

No AI permitted. If you're found to submit AI-generated work, you'll be disqualified from the zine altogether.

No NSFW for underage characters. This doesn't mean you can't have romance/kissing/discussions of relationships, etc. or that you can't put them in perilous situations (since the canon does). This rule is against spicy scenes with kids.
