write your top five favorite songs/albums
my top 5 albums (for now🙊), and why:
1. "REBOOT" Wonder Girls.
I discovered this album quite recently, but it’s completely changed my view of k-pop and I’ve finally realised exactly what music I like. I’ve known this group for quite a long time, but I never even tried listening to their music. and it turns out there was something this good hidden from me the whole time. I love the atmosphere and concept of this album. that 80s vibe, live instruments, yearning lyrics. this is the kind of music that resonates with me the most. and now, precisely because of the Wonder Girls and this album, I’ve started to explore the 2nd gen of k-pop in more depth, because I’m sure there might be something even better hidden there. my favorite tracks: GONE, Faded Love, Loved.
maybe this is too clichéd to add to your top but I genuinely love this album. it seems really simple, personal, like you're listening to a story from a stranger about their life experience. all of the songs feel very intimate, and you can relate them to your own life. there are lighter, calmer songs, but also more raw ones with a slightly anxious atmosphere. my favorite tracks: Seigfried, White Ferrari, Ivy.
3. "Demos Before Prom" Malcolm Todd.
yeah, I know that this is not even an album but I just can't not add it to my top😫 I've been listening to Malcolm Todd for two years already, and out of all his releases, like for example Sweet Boy or Malcolm Todd, this EP has stuck in my heart. maybe because it's his early work, it just feels different– warmer, like home. Malcolm's voice was made for this kind of music. my favorite tracks: Hesitating, Phones, In a Trance.
4. "Perfect Velvet" Red Velvet.
in my opinion, Perfect Velvet is one of the most legendary and important albums in k-pop, speaking about music, concept, visuals. actually, the idea of the group itself, the Red and the Velvet sides, it is already genius. this album shows, firstly, how diverse k-pop music can be, and secondly, it reveals the whole essence of Red Velvet. it's a shame that people are starting to forget about Red Velvet. music like theirs hasn't been released in k-pop for a long time. I'm really looking forward to the girls' comeback this year❤️❤️ favorite tracks: Look, Peek-A-Boo, Perfect 10, I Just.
I started listening to NCT recently, and Haechan immediately became my bias. then I found out he has solo work, so I listened to this album– and I was shocked. I haven't heard this much R&B in one album, even from Red Velvet 🙊 personally, I think this album suits Haechan perfectly. there are sad, soft tracks, but also bold hip-hop songs. and I feel like this album really resonates with his personality. his voice sounds like honey– so sweet and smooth. only he can sing like that. favorite tracks: Camera Lights, Love Beyond, CRZY.
