Maverick Shiftwell, a mysterious student who had shown up after leaving Nobel Bell College. Nothing was said, no gestures were made, he simply...arrived and made his presence everyone's problem...

but how about we turn back time? Just a few months, a small fraction of time.

Turn it back and look at what brought him to Night Raven College. Who was he? What purpose did he have. Why....why was he so open yet so closed off? Watch the dial as it spins, as the time rewinds to his last few weeks before he made his grand escape.

Boring boring BORING?! Did I say boring? NBC was the most boring place on earth, Maverick had ruled that out for sure. Nobody enjoyed the thrill of a fight, and if they did, they weren't strong enough. If nothing changed by the new few days, he was OUT OF HERE! gone faster than you could say "meeska mooska"! So now he stormed back to his dorm after another failed attempt at making something interesting happen. Another failed attempt at finding the perfect nemesis! How terrible! And not the fun terrible, either! Nobel Bell College...more like Boring Snooze-House Academy!

Oh dear. Can't you see he's bored? Perhaps....some havoc may be afoot....perhaps some chaos will come in his wake....

“Well, the staff ghosts here usually are informed about visitors and their visit so they don’t call a widespread lockdown on all of the dorms. They probably know where you ought to be headed, anyhow. Worth a shot, if nothing else.” she thought out loud, to rationalise an idea.

“No worries. Better than wandering around doing nothing.” Cyn bowed a little to that.

The canteen was usually a busy area, that was a prominent feature through the school year. Chatter of the students would be very distinct to the hums of ghosts. Usually, this would be more subtle in the noiseless the area brought. With stoves brought alive, herds of footsteps, shuffling of chairs, how could it not? But the canteen was closed right now, giving a small silence that could be easily broken.

She made a few loud knocks around the area, eyes skimming the canteen. “Anyone there?”

“Nor can I, honestly. But the college is magic infused, so we should be able to see… well anyone actually.” Cyn shrugged.

The noise seemed to be a knock. It seemed to come from the kitchens. Sound seemed to echo - although to be fair it was empty in the canteen - through the door. Rattling the door, it seemed impatient and frustrated as time went on. And quite strangely, no voice seemed to come out from the door, nor was there any attempt to open the door by any means.

Silence for a moment. The kitchen seemed relatively normal, the cutlery only mixed up a bit, and some black patches on the carpet floor made it stand out, despite this, but the view wasn’t much, either.

Cyn slowly shut the door after.

With some gestures, Cyn signed with her hands. “We have two options. Number one, we leave whatever that is, as it’s not what we’re looking for. Number two, we face whatever is there in that kitchen. What’s your call?”

Upon further inspection, the carpet seems to be an utter wreck (which was a questionable choice for a kitchen, but still.) The tattered floor seems scratched and dug into, as if an animal went scavenging in the minor crevices of the carpet, only to be fruitless. Discolouration was clear as the mottled patches of carpet seemed to ooze into glossy jet black puddles. And this dark stain not only was prominent in the carpet, but it seemed to glaze the countertops and spread among the lower level of the walls; it was absent at the roof at least.

Funnily enough, the knocking had stopped.

Cyn also added, “ And if, which seems like the most likely scenario right now, if we need to fight, I have some spells that pack a punch, although not as much variety as I could have at my best. But we can work with it.”
