Hello everyone, I’m here with two updates: good news and bad news.

The bad news is, more medical bills came in from yet ANOTHER set of MRI/CT scans the Neurosurgeon who didn’t even want to touch me put in an order for.

Which brings my current medical debt up to $2500 after what I’ve been able to pay off by myself and the help I’ve gotten here. But that IS better than the $3500-ish it would be without anything having been done. I’m beginning to think I low-balled my goal, but some help is better than none! I’m still incredibly grateful.

The GOOD news is, I was FINALLY able to speak to a surgeon willing to work on my problem.  The operation is not yet scheduled, but will hopefully be done so in the next week. It will be done in two parts.

Part 1: having certain blood vessels sealed off to help avoid complications during surgery. Which, in fairness, sounds like a fantastic idea.

Part 2: the surgery itself where the actual problem and mass will be taken care of to the best of the surgeon’s ability.

I came up with the characters and story solely for this project; they are not “from” anything, just this!  The nun’s name is Sanga, the demon’s name is Ashivon, and you can find more of them here.

An animatic is, by its nature, a planning stage for animation.  But since I wasn’t sure whether this one would ever end up being fully animated, I put extra care into it.  So now it’s in that animatic/animation gray area.  While making this video, I was torn between the thought “well this is some melodramatic middle-school bullshit” and “actually it’s pretty good”.  In the end, I’d like to think it’s both things. :)

Hello, my name is Brittany (see me above with my grampa’s dog) and I need help getting surgery.

I have a condition called Neurofibromatosis; there is no currently known cure for this disease. For those who don’t know, NF is a genetic disorder of the nervous system and it can (and generally does) cause tumors to grow on your nerves – these are called neurofibromas. It’s an interesting illness to have, especially since so little is known about it compared to other illnesses. I’ve had doctors have to look up what it is right in front of me before (which… to be honestly, was both shocking and a little frightening. I’m lucky enough that I’ve found some good doctors that know what it is.)

I had hoped it wouldn’t come to this, but seeing as the insurance I have access to and qualify for won’t be helping as much as I’d hoped, I turn to everyone here now.

If I’m honest, the surgery doesn’t scare me as much as the bills do. Knowing that this surgery will help me is wonderful, but knowing I won’t be able to afford it is terrifying. The idea of the medical bills piling up faster than I can pay them is scary. Anyone who has been here before knows what it’s like.

I work for barely more than minimum wage, and knowing I’ll be out of commission for a while puts me back even farther. Medical bills on top of all the life bills (rent, student loans, etc) is… scary.

For a writer, it’s weird for me to not know what words to say, but I hope my story above helps.
