Alex is 100% a control freak and that’s not a bad thing. Control freaks get shit done and get it done well. Pair that with him being the primary creative force in the band, it’s no wonder they’ve been so successful. I don’t think AM would exist without the others but I think they all know who runs the show and they’re happy to let him lead. Someone’s gotta do it, right? As for Miles, I recall an interview where Alex said he was happy to share the frontman role because the pressure was off compared to AM. In TLSP, Miles wore the ear monitors on stage because Alex hated them, which gave him the opportunity to enjoy his art without having to worry as much about keeping everything running smoothly. It likely wasn’t 50/50 all the way but it seems Alex got to relax a bit and let someone else take (some) of the control. I’m sure he had his limit though lol Miles has his strengths where Alex is lacking and vice versa. Alex might be a control freak but I don’t think he’s a prick about it and I also don’t think it’s necessarily “my way or the highway”, he seems very grateful for his mates and everything they’ve contributed toward their success.
