Inner Me

May I say a fond farewell to my favorite hat; my avocado hat. I would bike every where with you. I have sweat in you, bled with you; cried with you.

Whilst cycling home today, going South on State Street in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah; I maneuvered around stopped cars to get to the lane that I needed. I wanted to head East on 300 South. A rather impatient driver wanted to cut through to get around faster. I zipped past him and turned my head to look behind; needing to know how close he was, a gust of heavy wind lifted my hat right off and I proceeded to watch the driver run over my it.

You drive me crazy. I've been so fond of you since the day we met. Why can't you see me? I've given you my heart. My loyalty. I was submissive to you. You threw me aside. For what? Gossip? Why are you so willing to listen to others opinions of me. Dont you know me? You should know me. You've looked into my eyes and seen the dark creature inside come alive. At least, I think you have. You would call me baby girl and treat me like your pet. I worshipped you. I would have gotten on my knees. You lost me when you were dismissive. You lost me when you set me aside for petty feelings. You got jealous. I stepped back to observe and listen. I still watch you. I still look at you. Fond as ever; quiet and lost. I needed you. I wanted you. I see through you now. Will you ever come back? Only time can tell. Only your heart can tell. Will you listen?

I touch you and your skin ignites and draws me close. I breathe you in. My heart is pounding. You look like him, but you don't. You are sweet and patient. But your want takes over. You are unavailable, but you still seek me out. You call for me and I come. Your hands are on my skin. You meet my gaze across the bar. We watch each other. Jealousy looming in the background.
