turnaboutmaster:
Retaining his unashamed smile, he blatantly ignored Kristophâs passive aggressive comment and darted his eyes elsewhere⌠a habit he had adapted since losing his badge.
âOh, if itâs the driving home youâre worried about then thereâs no problem. I always just thought you were an angry drunk or something.â
All the years heâd known Kristoph and heâd always insisted on ordering the most dull of drinks. Some manner of tea, or⌠heaven forbidâwater. âI may not have a license, but I can ride a bike. Iâll drive you home. Problem solved. Satisfied?â
He picked up the alcoholic beverage menuâthat was strategically placed in the middleâoff the table. Taking a quick, and somewhat half-hearted glance, he pointed at it and looked back up at Kristoph. âLook, some thing called Medovukh⌠sound intriguing?â Yes, he only pointed that one out because it was cheapest in price, but it did sound interesting.
âIf I am intoxicated, I wonât be able to stay upright on your bike,â he said, leaning forward and setting his elbows on the table, folding his arms. âAnd itâs pronounced âmedovukha,â with the stress on the third syllable.âÂ
For the record, Kristoph was a sleepy drunk, with a side of flirty (he was always a little flirty, but had reservations; alcohol took that from him), and the only thing that concerned him was getting home safely. His behavior wouldnât suffer, but nobody was a good drunk driver. Nobody.
There was a pause, and then he spoke up again: âItâs also honey based. Iâll tell you, since it seems that youâve forgottenâ I am allergic to honey.â He sighed and rolled his eyes. âI prefer mixed drinks, anyway.â
âActually,â He played with the menu a bit, occupying his hands. âI meant Iâd drive your car. But your idea works too... minus the not being able to stay upright part.â
He rolled his eyes and gave an aloof smileâclassic Kristoph, educating his unrefined friend on how to pronounce an unfamiliar word. Heâd already forgotten which syllable to stress.
Well, that was... quite the thing for Phoenix to conveniently forget. Also quite the drink, of all the liquors, to point out on the menu. A honey based alcoholic beverage. Definitely not intentional. â... Huh. Is it really?â He stared at the name of the alcohol on the menu, and his friend was rightâright there it stated âa honey based alcohol,â for anyone paying enough attention to see.
âOh yeah? A little orange juice with vodka works well.â He hopped off the honey subject real quick. Now it was time to move onto âwill Kristoph drink this alcohol recommended by his dear friend? stay tunedâ. âYou look tired, you know. Taken a day off lately?â Looking to his sides, he tried to find the waitress in order to get some drinks.
