Happy Trans Day of Visibility! 🩵🤍🩷
Art made for @transthedasfest! Check out the AO3 collection to see all the amazing works created by the community 🫶
You should take some time to read @3liza's post documenting the Phantom Report Bug (which she deserves praise for doing, thank you eliza) and see how fucking broken Tumblr's report tool is. I also want to reiterate something she is once again correct about: no one files bug reports. I have first hand experience working at Tumblr and I remember having to tell web devs on Staff "i saw a post about someone talking about a bug" and they were unaware because no one followed through to file a bug. I have fixed bugs that I saw people posting about that were in my domain (I'm a mobile dev) but were not in the system. No this is not an endorsement of "complain about it enough and eventually someone will see it", this is an endorsement of "file a bug report directly to computer companies and people will most likely read it and probably fix it". I mean it this is not a Tumblr-only thing. I've seen this at every company I've worked for. Just fucking file a bug report please I beg you, software gets complicated and the devs are just unaware that there's a bug until you bring it to your attention. And they want to fix the bug! I promise!
WHAT AM I ALWAYS SAYING TO YOU PEOPLE. COMPLAINING GETS THE GOODS. YOURE NOT ALLOWED TO GET MAD UNTIL YOUVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO SOMEONE WHOSE JOB IT IS TO FIX IT
POLITELY
little doodle I had to get out of my system
I had vague plans to be cheeky and try my hand at a full Dragon Bash rewrite, but there's remarkably little work to be done because the verses focus on the bashers boasting about how their enemy ain't all that and they can take 'em together, not dwelling on the dragon-ness of it all. It would really just be a matter of pronoun massaging (it -> they) and a few key noun (creature, lizard, beast) replacements to pull it just far enough out of its original context. You can even leave stuff like "minions" intact and it scans fine.
when a government bans young people from using social media, and then categorises messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp as "social media", they are pushing those young people toward using text messages, a fundamentally insecure form of communication. texts are not encrypted in transit and can be read by both the sender's mobile carrier and the recipient's. that also means they can be leaked in data breaches, subpoenaed, or just handed over willingly to law enforcement at the carriers' discretion.
hmm. I wonder why governments might want this
this is not JUST about destroying kids' privacy by the way, although that is bad on its own! but think about it: if you can push everyone to spend their formative social years communicating through an insecure protocol, most of them are not going to do the work of moving to a secure one the moment they're legally allowed! banning everyone under 16 from Signal and WhatsApp creates a whole population of people more likely to continue, for the rest of their lives, to communicate using a tool the government can access at the drop of a hat

Clip of Lucy Dacus on the Las Culturistas podcast.
People are highlighting how well she describes how allyship sometimes comes before coming out, but I also want to put emphasis on "... the guy takes off the earring, no-one was hurt."
Sometimes a person needs to explore and experiment before coming to the conclusion that actually they're not queer at all, and that's not only perfectly okay but - in my opinion - a brilliant thing to do!
There's a real risk of saying that a person who questions their sexuality will always turn out to be queer and/or if a person questions their sexuality and turns out to be straight after all then they were faking or attention-seeking.
Having the freedom to explore, question and identify your orientation/gender should not be a luxury permitted to only the minority - that then runs the risk of the very act of questioning becoming outing one's self.
It's similar to cis people wearing pronoun pins - if only trans people wore pronoun pins then the pin suddenly becomes a clear sign to the world that the wearer is trans, which not every trans person wants to broadcast.
I personally make a point to congratulate any cishet person I meet whom I know have taken the time to question their identity, not for being progressive but for having an understanding of their identity not because society told them what they are but because they determined that for themself.
"Silver Skulls Chapter defeats the ork invasion!"
despite taking many creative liberties to make this as easy for myself as possible, this one page comic has still taken a week. with 5 days of procrastinating in the middle
anyways, go read The Infinite and The Divine. I go and sleep finally.

awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users

Fantastic edit by @punk--alien
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.
